Festivus and Kong

‘s graduation party on Friday was great, I finally got to meet several of her coworkers and friends from college, and the lot of us managed to plow through 8 bottles of Champagne as well as some beer… It would have been nice if we could have invited more people, but our apartment was pretty much packed to capacity as it was.. When we move, though, hopefully we will be able to have some bigger bashes… =) Saturday was the Goodrich holiday party, which was pretty lame… I wasn’t expecting it to be a blast or anything, but even the food was bad this year.. And once again there was a designated driver tax — they charged $2 for a tiny little coke. Lame.

Sunday I caught King Kong (2005) with the film club. It was better than I had expected, and while there was one glaring plot point (the “kid” on the ship) that was left hanging by the end of the film, it was pretty tight overall (which is surprising given the 3 hour runtime).. There were obviously points of the film that were slower than others, but they all seemed in place (except for the aforementioned subplot, which should have either been trimmed altogether or at least followed through).

I am getting antsy for the holidays, counting the days until I get to drive home and enjoy 11 days off!

Apply evenly.

This weekend I had a little party at the family home in Hopatcong… , , Michelle, Sean and Kelly all descended on my parents house for a weekend of hanging out and chilling on the Party Barge Regency Edition. A good time was had by all, and I hope this can become a yearly event, as well as one that can be expanded a bit next year. The challenge is that the Barge can only handle about 13 people, and we need a designated driver, so I am a bit limited on the number of people that I can invite… But maybe I can work out a creative solution for that problem next year.

Made it back from NJ on Sunday in time to see Batman Begins with the Sunday Night Film Club. I really enjoyed the movie, even if parts of it were cheesy, but I think it’s time to space Katie Holmes. Fortunately, I believe she is self-destructing her career with this whole Tom Cruise beard fiasco. Unfortunately, I was really exhausted from the hectic weekend and long drive on Sunday and bailed on the post-movie festivities with the film club. I wisely asked Audra to pinch-hit as the host knowing that I might not make it back from NJ in time, so it wasn’t a dick move that I bailed on them.

My leg is slowly getting stronger… I can go longer without my cane, and I even treaded water with a lifejacket on this weekend. It’s pretty much sore all the time, but it is mostly muscle soreness that will (hopefully) go away once I get my strength built back up. I have another month before I have to visit the doctor again… I hit up the dentist yesterday, and even though I have been flossing regularly since before the new year, he still found two cavities.. One was above a crown, so I will have to ask if there is any special treatment that I should be giving that area, as it’s kinda hard to get to. The other is a tiny little cavity-let that he said hasn’t actually developed into a cavity yet, so I will get some PM on that.

I’m quite excited about the tag support added to LJ… While I don’t think I am going to go into the past to tag up my history of nearly 2,200 entries, I might tag up some of the highlights, and I will certainly tag up future entries. Which reminds me, this saturday will be the 5th anniversary of this journal.

Ugh.

Wow… Remember how I said the ‘spirit’ wasn’t quite there yet? Well, it has arrived to an extent, and now I really don’t want to go to class tomorrow. I polished off the lab report that’s due earlier today, and I am all caught up, but I just don’t want to go to class. This god-damned 8am class is killing me… It is boring as hell, and it’s during my normal sleep cycle.

The Holiday Party rocked, much fun was had by all, food was good, and it was fun seeing a bunch of geeks dressed up. Pictures will be available soon.

James pulled a power-play at CSH’s Secret Santa, getting the infamous can of corn from my parents and giving it to me up the ass of a stuffed bear. Caught me completely off guard… Now I have to think up yet-another retaliation….. :P

Inching towards Christmas….

Ok, with the CSH Holiday Party (and Secret Santa) this evening, I am starting to feel the slightest twinges of Christmas Spirit. It probably won’t be full-force until I leave on Thursday, but I am feeling good.

This weekend was good… I went over to Trouble, Ben, and Chris’ apartment Friday to celebrate Trouble’s birthday. Contrary to My Roommate’s earlier post, I did not spend the night (but I arrived back here about an hour after his post). Saturday I hung out here most of the day, but ended up going to The Distillery to celebrate Ethan’s 21st birthday. Ironically, he decided he didn’t want to drink anything, which is A-OK in my book. I, however, took advantage of their 2-for-1 Margarita special… :)

I am just about to go out to procure my gift for Secret Santa, which I will describe in more detail after it has been deployed. :P I am kinda shaky on this one, because I am not super-good friends with the person who I was assigned…. We will see how it goes… :P

midmorning grogginess turned into total lack of productivity

I was this (-> <-) close from sleeping through class after my alarm went off... I layed in bed until 7:30a, which is when I finally gathered the motivation to drag my ass out of bed, tossed on some clothes, brushed my teeth, and ran to class. I actually got to class 5 minutes early, which afforded me enough time to go downstairs to the vending machines and grab a beverage. I got back, touched my usual sites and read my mail. I just got out of the shower, and was thinking about going back to bed, but I think I have decided against that. There is a party tonight celebrating Trouble's birthday, and I will probably go to that, because I haven't gotten to hang out with her much lately (cause I always talk my way out of going out with her). Stomach is growling... I will probably wait around until my roommate wakes up from his childlike slumber... My guess is that I have already woken him up and he is just trying to scrounge up a few more winks before giving in... I feel bad for having this 8am class, but there was nothing I could do about it... And it isn't like he hasn't woken me up before.. Normally I am the one with later classes. :P
