Stephen Lynch

I bought 4 tickets to see comedian Stephen Lynch (with some other comedian guy opening) at the Orpheum theatre in November… They are orchestra tickets and only like 9 or so rows back, so it should be a good time.

I have another supply of Gmail invitations available… I have made previous Gmail posts friends-only, but since the response has always been minimal I guess I will open it up to “the public”. The first 5 people to respond to this (either via email or a comment) with your email address get accounts.

Update: That’s it for this round of Gmail invites, come again next time. :)

On a whim last night I hacked on Brian Swetland’s Infocom Runtime for the Hiptop, ZMachine. I tried to get this all compiled and bundled up a few months ago, and got it working in the simulator, but couldn’t get it working on the phone. I have learned more Java, Ant, and more about Hiptop development in the subsequent time, so I figured I would give it another stab. I have his code working on the phone now, and my next goal is to add support for multiple games (right now only one game is supported at a time) and possibly even downloading games off the net. Should be some fun, simple hacking.

I kicked ass at work today.

Yawn

Having trouble getting going this morning… And on top of that I feel a lump forming in my throat; hopefully I don’t get YET another cold.

Yesterday was cool, after work I met up with and for some dinner, and then walked back to the car while they went to go play poker. It sucked not being able to play last night, but I really need to get my game into better shape before going to that game again… People there are just in another league than me, and I need to work my way up there before playing with the big(ger) boys.

Knee Deep in the Dead

I beat Doom3 last night, what a great game… I am tempted to play through it all the way again on Nightmare difficulty (I beat it the first time one notch down, because you have to beat the game once to unlock nightmare)… It was a lot of fun, even if it was “just another” shooter.

I have been playing with Eclipse 3.0 this afternoon, and am really impressed. The RIT SE co-ops we have at work are all IDE using weenies, but I have had my eye on Eclipse for awhile now because it seems like a great environment. My one big stumbling block has been the lack of a Vi editing mode.. There was a plug in I had tried a few months ago, viPlugin, but it was totally immature. But today I looked at it again and it has just about every Vi feature I can think of that I use regularly… I purchased a license for the plug in (15 euros), which I wasn’t terribly keen on doing, but I have a feeling that being able to use Eclipse’s debugger alone will make it worth it.

OMFG

Rumor has it that my friend John broke up with his girlfriend Calmie because she was pro-choice… That’s weak. To be honest, though, I think this was just a convenient excuse, as I don’t think things were working between them for quite some time.

Update: I should clarify why I think his action is weak. It’s not so much that I think he should force himself to be with someone who’s views are orthogonal to his own. What I found weak was the way he went about it, when he found out she was pro-choice, he stopped talking to her for the night, phoned her the next day, and dumped her. It wasn’t like there was some kind of rational discussion, he just threw a hissy fit.

2003 Movie List Updated

I found out that Netflix has an option where they will email you your entire rental history, so I was able to fill in some missing information in the list of movies I viewed in 2003. I also found some I missed in early 2004, but I will just add those to my current tally and post them at the end of the year.

Can't you see i'm burning, burning

Went to the doctor this morning for the rash… I guess it is a fungal rash, so I got some OTC cream to put on it for like a week to go away.. She said that the 2 showerless days of Stellafane probably wasn’t the cause, although sitting in the torrential rain on the one day might have done it.

Ass

I had my ass handed to me again in Poker last night. I am in over my head at that game, so I am going to stop playing there until I get better.

The aforementioned rash has yet to go away, and doesn’t really seem to be improving, so it might be doctor time.

Cyberpunk Commute

grahams - - 1 min read

I have been forgetting to post this all day.

I have been listening to Neuromancer as read by William Gibson in the car during my commute for a week or so now. I’ve just about finished it up. Anyway, I was doing this on the way to work this morning, when I passed by a car who had a door stencil reading Mnemonic (Inc | Corp | Ltd | Etc.). Soon after I passed this car I was cut off by this SUV with the license plate QCKSLV. It was a very Cyberpunk commute.

(Ok, so Quicksilver isn’t a particularly cyberpunk book… So what… It’s still bizarre..)
