I whipped together a quick page for Drink, since the house hasn’t had a page for it in quite some time…

Bizarroworld
Ok, so I am in my room, listening to random MP3’s, when all of the sudden I hear the immense sound of a travelling group of carolers, some of which were playing brass, playing Christmas music in the CSH elevator lounge. Now, this definately helped with elevate my Christmas spirit.
Bizarroworld comes in the details. What I left out is that it just so happens that the Random MP3 playing at the time was the themesong to the movie “The Omen“, which is entitled “Ave Satani“. :P
Ugh.
Wow… Remember how I said the ‘spirit’ wasn’t quite there yet? Well, it has arrived to an extent, and now I really don’t want to go to class tomorrow. I polished off the lab report that’s due earlier today, and I am all caught up, but I just don’t want to go to class. This god-damned 8am class is killing me… It is boring as hell, and it’s during my normal sleep cycle.
The Holiday Party rocked, much fun was had by all, food was good, and it was fun seeing a bunch of geeks dressed up. Pictures will be available soon.
James pulled a power-play at CSH’s Secret Santa, getting the infamous can of corn from my parents and giving it to me up the ass of a stuffed bear. Caught me completely off guard… Now I have to think up yet-another retaliation….. :P
Inching towards Christmas….
Ok, with the CSH Holiday Party (and Secret Santa) this evening, I am starting to feel the slightest twinges of Christmas Spirit. It probably won’t be full-force until I leave on Thursday, but I am feeling good.
This weekend was good… I went over to Trouble, Ben, and Chris’ apartment Friday to celebrate Trouble’s birthday. Contrary to My Roommate’s earlier post, I did not spend the night (but I arrived back here about an hour after his post). Saturday I hung out here most of the day, but ended up going to The Distillery to celebrate Ethan’s 21st birthday. Ironically, he decided he didn’t want to drink anything, which is A-OK in my book. I, however, took advantage of their 2-for-1 Margarita special… :)
I am just about to go out to procure my gift for Secret Santa, which I will describe in more detail after it has been deployed. :P I am kinda shaky on this one, because I am not super-good friends with the person who I was assigned…. We will see how it goes… :P
Doing work.
Well, schoolwork finally caught up with me, and I spent most of the morning putting the finishing touches on a paper for Senior Seminar. After class this evening, I am going to spend some time studying for a Calc 3 quiz tomorrow, and then I am going to watch the 3 new episodes of Junkyard Wars that will premiere this evening.
CSH will be doing to systems maintenance and upgrading over the next few days, so if you have to read my journal, you can find it at http://grahams.livejournal.com/. You won’t get any of the other stuff on my page there, but you will get the journal stuff…. Of course, if you are that concerned with my life, perhaps you should go check your head. :P
Brr….
After taking a few days off from it, I started to hack on Drink again. Today, I removed a stupidity from the protocol that was inherited from whatever stub daemon that Joe initially used.. It stuck a Null character (\0) at the end of each line of a STAT response. Joe has an excuse, he hacked his client/server out in 10 hours over a weekend. I was just lazy. :P
I cleaned up the source and UI for the Unix commandline client that Joe wrote as well. That is more of an ongoing battle with my dislike for straight ‘C’ more than anything. :)
It certainly does look cold and solid wet outside.
I’ve got a drink-ing problem
Ok, so I continue to work on drink. :) As I believe I have mentioned before, we have broken the project up into phases. The first phase is laying down the infrastructure for the machine and enabling people to ask what drinks are in the machine and letting them drop a drink…
As of this morning, I believe that this phase is now complete. I wrapped up a few loose ends, changed the way I was authenticating users, made users timeout if they picked their nose for too long… This project is certainly keeping my attention. Plus, I talked with Bill about licensing the code, and we agreed on a BSD-style license.. :P Down with the GPL!
Drink
I have been working on Drink a whole lot these days, and I finally added some info about what I have been doing to my projects page. I spent most of this morning (after Chem) documenting the protocol that Joe whipped up last year.
I am hoping to support the ‘classic’ protocol as well once I get some documentation.

2 Gigs!?!?!?
Woke up this morning around noon, and went down to observe and assist in a memory upgrade for one of CSH’s machines.. Fury now has 2 gigs of RAM, which is alot.
I kinda went down there just after my shower, so we are all gonna go out for lunch now…
