Thunder

Holy christ, we had this constant thunder rumble for like 15 minutes here and now the skys have opened…. It’s awesome… Before the rain started I had the foresight to run out to my car for my umbrella…

Last night , Audra, and myself saw Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, and I really think it is one of the funniest movies of the year, if not THE funniest. You should totally check it out.

Desert Search for Techno Allah

Last night, after getting home, I took a little nap… I haven’t been sleeping well the past few days… After the nap and I went to Tasca across the street for some sweet, sweet tapas. We watch Sunday’s Six Feet Under when we returned, and I played some Doom3 after C-note went to bed.

Today I went to the post office to pick up Corinna’s birthday gift from which has been there since the weekend. That post office is so difficult to get to (shitty hours) so the only time to get there is either on my way to work (which sucks because they are understaffed in the early morning) or on Saturday.

Waamp waamp waamp

The game was alot of fun last night, and even better, Boston won, so there weren’t any riots or anything… :) I am good at getting the team spirit when I am actually AT a game, so I was cheering on Boston like the rest of the crowd… Often I didn’t know what I was cheering or booing at, but that doesn’t matter… :) had alot of questions about the rules of the game, and I was able to answer alot of them, but having not followed baseball in like 15 years, my knowledge is a little rusty.

I took some pictures, mostly to show how awesome our seats were.

Anachronistic

Yesterday was fairly straightforward… I got home from work, which was somewhat boring, and did 3 loads of laundry, which was somewhat boring. and I had Indian food delivered (I got Chicken Vindaloo and Garlic Naan, yummy). I got a call from who is coming in today for an interview, and he was stuck at the airport due to being such a young’in. He took a cab to our apartment, we got him some food over at Pizzanini, and then I drove him to the hotel he was staying at in Chelmsford. I think he will be in good shape for his interview today, I don’t think anyone will beat him up too much, and he’s a smart kid, so hopefully if he wants to work here he can.

Tonight Corinna and I are going to the aforementioned baseball game… Am I allowed to bring a camera? If so, perhaps I will take some pictures.

Baseball

I won two tickets to see the Red Sox play the Blue Jays tomorrow afternoon through work… They are apparently good box seats, but I don’t know much about these things, so… I guess after living in Boston for 3 years it’s about time I saw a baseball game. :)

Stellafane, more like Stella-RAIN

Man did it rain on Friday up in Springfield…. It’s possible that I have seen harder rain in my life, but this day was certainly up there (and I definitely can’t imagine a harder rain that I was outside for). The 4 of us (Dad, Chuck, Johnny, and myself) met up at Stellafane’s “Fern Forest” around 10am on Friday and quickly set up camp. The rain hadn’t really started yet, so we were able to set up our campsite in relative dryness… But after a few hours the sky really opened up and we spent most of the day under the canopy (which we found out was not entirely waterproof) and trying to stay dry. We are generally a pretty upbeat gaggle of guys, but rain like this can bring down Richard Simmons.

Fortunately, after a dreadful night’s sleep (for me), we woke up to a beautiful day. Saturday brought us a warm day with nice white fluffy clouds, which was a fantastic change of pace. During the day, we went up to the hill and checked out the all of the competing ‘scopes… And the craftsmanship this year seemed to be out of control… I can’t remember a year with so many ornate scopes, mounts, or devices. We retreated back to our camp, some napping was accomplished, and then we ate dinner before the evening program. This year’s evening speaker spoke about his theories of time travel that is based on Einstein’s relativity theories. The skies cleared up during the program, but as it was wrapping up everything clouded over. We had heard rumors of heavy rains after midnight before the program started, so we packed up everything but our tent and sleeping bags into the car so if it did rain we had less to pack up in the morning. Ultimately, though, the weather held out long enough for us to leave Stellafane dry.

Sometimes I wonder why I am so eager to return to Stellafane year after year, even though bad weather is so common. The real reason is family and friend. It might be discouraging, but it would take quite a bit to keep me from going.

Whoa

The job fair was out of control last night… 95 people showed up (for all disciplines, not just Software), and I interviewed, maybe, 10-15 of them… I’m not sure of the exact number, but it was about one every 15 minutes for 3:15. I was able to sneak out and get a coke and use the bathroom once, but that was only under the guise of “finding someone”. I was ready to explode, and there always seemed to be someone waiting to talk to me while I was interviewing.. What I found really interesting is that even though this was advertised as casual dress, some people were REALLY dressed up (way moreso than myself.. :P). Anyway, I found some good candidates for “real” interviews that we will be bringing in soon.

I got home after 9pm and was already winding down for the night… So we chilled for awhile (although I spent most of the time wrangling with Red Sauce pizza because they gave me the wrong order) and I watched some TV after she went to bed. After the TV I moved over to the ‘puter to continue “setting it up”, a process while usually takes me a while (until I am finally comfortable with the PCs setup). After that garbage, I busted out Doom 3 and rocked some zombie ass. What a great game… I feel like I am sitting in my dining room on my dad’s 386/33 10 years ago..

Thanks to working late last night at the Job Fair, I get to leave early today, which rules because I have to go shopping for Stellafane, which I’m leaving for tomorrow morning. Should be a fun trip, although I think I could do without the 2.5 hour drive all by myself… I’ve been listening to the original Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy radio show during my commute, and it should last me thru the trip up to VT… I have the Neuromancer audiobook (as read by William Gibson) on the same MP3 CD as well, so if I run out of H2G2 I can move onto that. I finally consumed my backlog of Audible.com books so I am starting to “recycle”.
