The snow today was awesome… While rory was cooking tonight I just wanted to go out in the snow and decided to just do it, so I put on some pants (as opposed to the shorts I usually wear around the house), grabbed my jacket and hat, strapped on my ‘Vogs and headed out in the “looks like a lot but not too bad snow”. Boy was I wrong…
I stepped outside in this “looks like a lot but not too bad snow” to find out it was instead “holy shit there is a good god-damned lot of snow out here”. It was almost up to my knee… I continued to trudge to the mailbox down the street cuz I had some letters to send, and it was my excuse for going out.. I mushed over there and turned back, and as I passed the driveway of “the shady guy who sits in his running car at the end of his driveway all the time” guy, there was some dude standing there. I said hello and he said, “did you notice the car on fire over there?” He pointed, and I looked, and wouldn’t you know, there was a freakin’ van on fire.. I stood around for awhile, and Mr. Officer finally said “Move Along, Nothing to see” so I walked back to the apartment. I entered the house and told Rory, and as I told the story I realized that I caved to the authority too quickly and we both decided to go and watch again… It was awesome, there was big white sparks and jets of flame and the expectation that the thing was going to blow at any moment as I saw fire shoot out around the rear of the car (obviously around the gas tank)… Fun, fun, fun..
Rory made dinner tonight, and when he was making it he said he was making Strawberry Daiquiri’s, and asked if I wanted in.. I said yes, and consumed several..
Rory: Hey Sean, what did you think of that last batch of daiquiris?
Snowing like a mother out there, supposed to continue through tomorrow, and they are saying it is going to be between 18-25" when it’s all said and done… Sure am glad that I parked on a non-snow emergency street when I got back from dropping Corinna off last night..
Gonna meet up with the SNFC as usual, but tonight is extra-special because the movie of choice is Lost in La Mancha, which I have been wanting to see for awhile…
Went with Rory and Laura for breakfast to Urban Pain, which was shitty enough to make me consider never going there again.
I went out to the mall before to pick up my Zelda bonus disc, and what was supposed to be a 20 minute trip turned into a nightmare. When I got to the mall, there was a huge line of cars in the parking garage. Since I was already in the garage, I was pretty much trapped… It took 25 minutes to get a parking spot, which is WAY too long. I walked into EB and asked for the disc, and the guy said they were out. He must have seen the impending shitstorm he was about to receive, because he quickly said he was just kidding with a look of terror on his face. :) The other dude working there commented on my Mr. Bungle “California” sweatshirt and said “It’s wearing that, because i just bought that CD today.” I then listened closely and heard the soothing sounds of “None of Them Knew They Were Robots” playing in the background. My anger quickly subsided… :)
When I got home (strangely enough, the traffic jam in the garage apparently disappeared during the 15 minutes I was in the mall), I wanted to check my voicemail to see if someone had called me back… Since my Hiptop was dead, I tried to remember what magic button sequence I needed to punch into the T-Mobile VM system to let me in. I eventually gave up and decided that I could probably check my voicemail on the Hiptop blind (since the screen was dead). Apparently the battery died overnight, and when I plugged it into the charger it turned on and the screen worked again.. I don’t understand how this works, and it seems like complete FM to me, but whatever… What really baffles me about it is that I even ran their recovery tool, which reflashes the firmware back onto the phone, and the screen was STILL fucked.. So I guess I will still swap it with the one T-Mo is sending me, just to be on the safe side.
My Hiptop bit the dust again yesterday. This time the screen died. Everything else seems to still work (it still rings/alerts when I get calls, email, voicemail, etc) but the screen has resorted to having a thick solid black line (about 6 pixels wide) down the right side with a single pixel thick line to the left of that line.
Faithful readers will remember that this is the second Hiptop I have had to send back. Now, granted, I may have accelerated the demise of my last unit, but the screen was flaky before I had that accident. So I am phoneless for a few days while T-Mobile gets their shit together…
Met up with the Rovia peeps for lunch at Rod dee’s today, it’s always good to see those guys. Tonight Corinna came over for dinner and board games. I made dinner and a cheesecake for dessert.. I tried a different recipe this time, and am pretty happy with the way it came out (although I know what I would tweak next time). We played Trival Pursuit, which I won again by a one slice margin. We then played Scrabble, and was summarily handed by ass by the linguistic prowess of Corinna… Afterwards we talked for awhile and watched some South Park.
Update: For those of you interested, here is the cheesecake recipe I used yesterday. The original recipe I used called for “1 3/4 granulated sugar”. Not knowing what units I was working with, I thumbed it and used 1 cup of sugar instead. After eating this recipe I would use 1.75 cups. I would also take it a bit easier on the zest, the citrus flavor was a bit too strong.
We’ll give this Friday Five crap a swing. Note that I censored a four-letter word several times in these questions.
Explain why you started to journal/XXXX.
To keep my family/friends in the loop of what’s going on in my life
Do people you interact with day to day or family members know about your journal/XXXX? Why or why not?
Yes, that’s the whole point. Almost all of my journal entries are publically accessible, and many of my friends and family read them. They are only offended occasionally.
Do you have a theme for your journal/XXXX?
Nope.
What direction would you like to have your journal/XXXX go in over the next year?
It will continue to go in the same direction it has all along, pointless meandering..
