The Movies I Saw in 2016

I saw even fewer feature films in 2016, but it was a rather busy year for me. My final total was 141, which was 7 fewer than 2015. The big thing I alluded to last year, that may depress this total, was buying a new house. That happened, so it’s possible that may explain the reduced number. Or, perhaps, I’ve settled into a new normal.

If you are interested in the technical guts of these graphs, look here.

The graphs, as well as the list itself, are behind the jump below…

  • Total # of movies:
  • Total # of features:
  • Total # of shorts:

Huge uptick in movies in a theatre this year, more than half, though that is goosed up by the shorts packages I saw…

More diversity in the theaters I frequented this year… Some additional local options helped there,

20-25% repeat viewings seems pretty standard over the past few years, especially given lots of Star Wars this year.

Saw more comedies this year, which feels appropriate, and fewer documentaries, which feels healthier.. :)

The IFFBoston “April” spike turned into a May spike this year as the festival spanned the two months.

That’s it for the graphs, below is the raw list of movies. If you hover your mouse over the title of a film you should get a brief review from me in the tooltip. (Titles in italics are repeat viewings.)
