The “Service Engine Soon” light came on in Maude last night, so I will have to take it to the shop today to see if I am going to be fucked gently or hard. Went to see Willard last night… Crispin Glover was fantastic, but the script was pretty weak.
George Lucas has said awhile back that he has no intention of releasing the Star Wars films on DVD in their original (before the Special Edition) forms. Now I know it is pretty geeky of me to get worked up about this, but I grew up with Star Wars, and I don’t have a problem with him revising the films if he so desires, but give me the option to see them in their original form (even if I have to pay more to do so). Han shot first, damnit!
Click the image above to sign the petition being run by The Digital Bits. Their last petition drive was responsible for Lucas releasing Episode I on DVD, so perhaps they can meet the same level of success this time around.
It wasn’t the first time we had shown either Dead Alive or Man Bites Dog, but we decided to show them again because of Dead Alive’s cancellation on Thursday night and to celebrate the release of Man Bites Dog on DVD (which had some previously unseen footage by FUMN fans).
I left Rochester Sunday morning after crashing at Trouble, Ben, and Garrett’s again. I visited for a few hours Sunday afternoon before continuing on back to Boston. I got home around 11:30pm, and the drive was pretty uneventful.
Today I went outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather for awhile and spent some time hanging my speakers in the living room… I only have the front two up so far, and might stop there for today, but I should be able to get the rears up after my interview tomorrow. I also finally update my CD List, which had been falling into disrepair for a few months (since I started using the Mac full time). Jerry helped me out with something I was having difficulty this weekend, so everything is up to date in that regard now.
A quick recap of what has been going on the past day or two. So Friday I hung out on floor for awhile and then met Trouble, Ben, Joe, Conlon, Marisa, and Werktktktkktk for dinner at the Dinosaur Barbeque, which was so, so awesome… We went back to Trouble’s after dinner and just hung out and I crashed there last night…
This morning we went to Dibella’s to complete the Rochester Hat Trick (Nick’s, Dibella’s, and the Dinosaur BBQ), and while we were there Nate and Ryan showed up. I knew Nate was in town but I didn’t realize that Ryan was… Haven’t gotten a chance to really talk with either of them last night, but i’m sure they will be at FUMN tonight. James, Garrett, and I went to Media Play and Video Barn to stock up for tonight, and boy did we stock up. I would list the movies we will be showing here but it would ruin the surprise… :P
I made it back to Rochester pretty intact, but the weather between Northhampton and Albany was tres-shitty. It wasn’t too bad after that, though.
The movie was cancelled tonight and replaced with Heavenly Creatures, which while good, I have seen recently enough to push me away from it… We all went to Nick’s instead and then came back to floor. I was going to find an apartment to crash at tonight but I think I am just going to plop down on the user center couch..
I feel pretty bushed, so this is a bit sporadic and incoherent… Nighty Night.
Do you like talking on the phone? Why or why not?
It depends on my mood and who the person is. For some strange reason I don’t mind talking to certain people on the phone. Usually if the person is local to me I avoid too much phone conversation in lieu of actually just meeting up with them and talking face-to-face.
Who is the last person you talked to on the phone?
I think it was Marisa, but I am not sure. Someone in the group of people that asked me to call them when we were going to Nick’s.
About how many telephones do you have at home?
We only have the one now. In the old apartment there was just about one in every bedroom, but now that we are all on the same floor there isn’t really a need.
Have you encountered anyone who has really bad phone manners? What happened?
When I lived with Jimmy Shotglass he would sometimes call from work for some various reason. I remember he would have the most godawful phone manners… You’d never know when the conversation was ending and he would never say goodbye or anything… I used to give him shit about it all the time.
Would you rather pick up the phone and call someone or write them an e-mail or a letter? Why or why not?
I use email over phone most of the time, but occasionally I would rather just hear the persons voice. Also, with some people you will get an answer quicker if you talk to them because they don’t check their email compulsively like me…. :)
Corinna stopped by for a while after work today, we just chilled around the apartment for a little while. On the way over she almost lost the Raspberry Beret!!! Fortunately she tracked it down and only a few people stepped on it. (BTW, Corinna, if you are reading this, I don’t care if it is really a Raspberry Beret or not, that’s it’s name. :P).
Packing up the bag and the iPod for tomorrow’s trip. I plan on leaving around 1 or 1:30p, after an early lunch with Corinna downtown. I figure that should place me in Rochester around 7pm, just in time to stop up on floor to pick people up for the movie at 8pm.
I can’t even begin to think about all the driving I have to do tomorrow… What a load of blow… Fortunately there is Nick’s at the end of that tunnel….. I can’t wait for a garbage plate…
morimoto is now fully operational and doing it’s thing. It was pretty much good to go after I got back from lunch with Corinna yesterday, but it took hours to copy all 70ish gigs of databack to it. I had a few problems with file naming that was apparently fine before but wasn’t fine anymore… Perhaps it is a difference in my Samba config or version. I still have to copy all the Good Eats episodes back to it as well, which are all backed up on CD-R. Anyway, I copied the last of the data over to the machine while I slept tonight, and now that all that is done, the Slimp3 server is up and running, and ntp is set up I can leave that machine alone for awhile now.
Just got the oil changed in Maude, The Minivan of Power, and she is much happier now. I was about to donate the old pantry rack to CSH when Adam claimed it. This is a good thing because while I would be willing to donate it to CSH, it was worth quite a bit of money when my parents bought it for me last year and now I can loan it to Adam and take it with me when I move out.
I slept like hot garbage last night and am pretty tired now… I kept coughing from my throat being dry, so i was drinking like there was no tomorrow… I eventually did what I should have done all along: Chugged some ‘quil and passed out into the coma.
The topic comes up in every dating relationship, but I am often confused by the subject. So my question to you is this: What does “serious relationship” mean to you? To me, a “serious relationship” is always exclusive. The inverse, however, is not necessarily true (i.e. a “non-serious relationship” isn’t always “open”). Since I guess I am on the open market, I figure I should get a grip on the subject.
