For those keeping score, I received my replacement discs for Back to the Future 2 & 3 yesterday from Universal. It only took 19 days for the replacements, which is much better than I had expected. If you were waiting for reports of legitmacy, here’s one of them.
Bought tickets today to see The Matrix: Reloaded on the day it is released (5/15) at 3:15pm for Corinna and myself. There was a noon showing but work makes getting to shows like that complicated (she has a job, and I hopefully will :P). There was also a midnight showing the night before but it was already sold out. The nice thing about scoring the 3:15pm tickets is that they are matinee prices, so not only do I get to see the movie the day it comes out, but I get to do so cheaply… The added bonus is that the showing is at the Boston Common theater, which is pretty swank.
Visually compelling, as is expected from Apple. When I heard it was going to be integrated into iTunes I was put off, mostly because I don’t like iTunes’ interface. Fortunately for people like me, the music store’s interface shares nothing but a window with iTunes. It could still be better, but it doesn’t suck as much as i would have expected.
I don’t want AAC, I want mp3. You can make every argument you want about AAC, it doesn’t change a thing. When the rest of my mp3 playing devices play AAC, then I will not care. Can I convert these downloads to mp3? Adam said yes, but that doesn’t make any sense to me as it will throw out all DRM.
The price isn’t quite so right yet…. People will be willing to buy individual tracks at a buck a piece, but just about every whole album I have seen is going for \$10. To the mall-shopping \$18-a-cd kids that might sound like a deal, but when I can go to Newbury Comics or Twisted Village and pick up a brand new, tangible CD for \$12-14, it doesn’t sound too appealing. Hopefully Apple is just trying to put on a little black dress and get the labels to drink the Kool Aid. In order for this to be really successful they need to bring the price down (even on the single tracks).
Apple needs to get the PC version together stat. Of course, before that happens, it would be nice if I could actually BUY A SONG! They didn’t seem to be ready for the flood, or just didn’t seem to be ready period. I tried buying several songs and met with no success.
Being able to preview every track available is fantastic. The way it should be.
The indies aren’t that well represented, but that’s what eMusic is for (at least for now…)
Mr. Bungle is well represented. This is a good thing.
I want one of the new iPods, but i’m not bitching and moaning about it.
That’s all for now. Possibly more later once I can actually give the damn thing a test drive.
Spent most of this weekend doing stuff with Corinna… Went over to her apartment somewhat late on Friday night and helped her briefly on prepping Durock for her bathroom… We only worked for an hour or so, I spent most of the time cutting holes in the Durock for the shower components. We went out to dinner at Casa Mexico, which was a freaking awesome as always…
Saturday I headed over to her apartment again in the afternoon and took her for a run to Home Depot, Best Buy, and Target. She bought some stuff, and I actually ended up getting a small microwave for our apartment for \$50 at BB. After that shopping trip we went back to her place and finished hanging the Durock in the bathroom. We also removed the old vanity in preparation for installing the new one. Afterwards we came back to my apartment and she made me watch a movie. This is a movie I had managed to avoid for 6 years. This is a movie I said I would never watch. But she pulled her trump card and forced me to watch Titanic. It was OK, but I think it could have been trimmed, and I think Cameron needed to pick whether he wanted to make an effects-driven film or a character-driven film…. Jesus… She has me watching Titanic, doing home improvement…. Next thing you know I will be watching figure skating ( Survey Says: BZZZZZT).
Today I am lazing around the apartment… Nobody else is around, which is kind of nice on a day like today… I’m just hanging around, listening to music… I think I am going to take a walk to find a cozy bench outside and read some more of my current book.
What was the last TV show you watched?
Watched two episodes
of Jeopardy before going to bed last night.
What was the last thing you complained about and what was theproblem?
Not really sure… I don’t think I have complained about
anything since waking up. I really can’t remember… It might have been my
usual “there is no good pizza here” complaint.
Who was the last person you complimented and what did you say?
Corinna: “Well, because it doesn’t look like it did on the model”
Sean: “Right, it looks better on you.”
What was the last thing you threw away?
A spent tissue…
With my cold I’ve been throwing alot of them away.
What was the last website (besides this one) that you visited? The Digital Bits
just took off… We met up at 1369 and had some tea/coffee, and afterwards we went to his car to pick up the dvd for Inva\$ion, the film he (and many other of my Rochester friends) worked on for the 48 Hour Film Project. I had tried to download the film a few times before but RIT was completely shithammered each time so this was the first time I had a chance to see it. While the film definately had a weak back end, it is amazing what they accomplished in a mere 48 hours! Congrats to all involved!
It appears that there is going to be a Boston competition this year (dunno if there has been in the past), and I am seriously considering getting a group of people together to give it a go. I know a bunch of people who would probably be down with it, could probably recruit a few more via the LJ, and I could probably even interest Nick, the director of Midnight Zombie Maniacs.. If I can’t get enough people together her to give it a swing, (if I was welcome) I would consider driving out to Rochester the weekend of the event to try and help out with the crew there… Either way it should be a ton of fun!
Way back when, I was still in High School, I had a bunch of CDs (80ish) stolen out of ’s truck… Wewere going to see a movie in Chester ( Jurassic Park, I believe), and we ran into a drug store to get some snacks before the movie… I left my CD wallet under his seat and while we were in the drugstore someone entered his truck through his sunroof and snagged them. Out of those 80ish CDs, the only ones I really miss (to this day) was a near-complete collection of Queen CDs…
For awhile I thought I could get away with just buying their Greatest Hits CDs, but I have recently realized that this simply won’t do, and have slowly started to replace them. I got a \$10 gift certificate to Amazon from T-Mobile for completing some survey for them, so I used it to buy Queen’s stellar Live at Wembley ‘86. I also picked up Lloyd Kaufman’s second book, “Make Your Own Damn Movie: Secrets of a Renegade Director” while I was at it.
Corinna made a surprise visit last night, which rules.. We watched some Talk Sex and last night’s South Park. We are going to see House of 1000 Corpses tonight. Trust me, I don’t expect much, but you have to support your horror roots, you know? My sis, hated the movie, but said her friends liked it, so we will see.
I am meeting up with this afternoon…. I guess he is in town, which is cool, cuz I haven’t seen him in ages…
In more somber news, it looks like I will be missing out on Toga this year. I thought I was all set to make it out but my plans (and ride) fell through… That sucks..
I’m sick. I guess it’s technically not winter anymore, but it still seems like I have caught every cold that has come around in the past 6 months. Oh well.
There’s so much drama in the LBC. Much like Snoop, I’m being accused of things I haven’t done. Of course, there is absolutely no defense for these things other than saying “I didn’t do it”. Unfortunately, those accusing me think I am full of shit, so what can I do. Whatever… I’m tired of trying to meet people half way and having nobody return the effort. If you aren’t even going to tell me when I am pissing you off, there is nothing I can do to remedy the situation. In my mind I have been going out of my way to try and make you feel comfortable. If you aren’t even going to bother to let me know when I fail at that effort, then you leave me crippled.
Fuck all that… I’m sick of feeling bad about shit I didn’t do.
