i am sitting in the morning at the diner on the corner

Last night I went over to Corinna’s… We went for a walk, hung out and watched some TV, she showed me some pictures, and enjoyed her new couch. It’s the first I really was able to hang out over there, as the place is just about livable now… She’s been living there for awhile but putting up with some serious crap. Her bathroom still isn’t finished, but she has had a working tub for awhile now… That is really the holy grail, once her bathroom is completed then she can really feel comfortable.

This morning I went with Rory to get breakfast again, but didn’t get eggs this time around. While I feel I have overcome my “fear”, I don’t know if I will be eating eggs too often as they were rather bland. On the way back I stopped by the video store and picked up a movie to watch today. Tonight, Matt is coming over, then He, myself, Adam, and Rory are heading out to Rory’s sister’s house in CT. We are staying overnight then in the morning we are heading to Foxwoods casino to enter the \$25 No Limit Hold-’em poker tournament. Doubt anything interesting will come of it, but it should be fun. Hopefully I don’t bust out right away.

  1. Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it? As far as I can remember, my first best friend was John Fiore.
  2. Are you still in touch with this person? I hung out in his hottub when I was back in NJ, he watched the fireworks from the family boat, and grilled twice (once on the boat, once on land).
  3. Do you have a current close friend? Several
  4. How did you become friends with this person? I meet almost all of my friends the old fashioned way… Friends of friends…
  5. Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why? Jill Smith… We were really good friends, and kept in touch after she moved to VA, but she entered the military at some point and I have simply lost track of her… And you can imagine how difficult it is to track down someone with a name like that… :)

Interview and eggs

grahams - - 2 mins read

My interview went well yesterday, IMHO, and they said they’d get back to me re: the job in a week… I really hope this works out for many reasons. After the interview I came back home and was just arriving. She had a really bad day at work so she needed to vent a bit. We ordered some Papa John’s and just chilled out here for the night.

I had a bit of trouble sleeping last night, probably due to anxiousness over the whole job thing. I only have like 3 weeks of unemployment left and this prospect is seemingly the only thing between me and McDonalds.

Today was a major accomplishment for me as well. I haven’t had eggs in at least 10, maybe more than 15 years. I have eaten eggs as components of other meals (bread, quiche [i’m not a real man], french toast, etc), but never just plain eggs (scrambled, over easy, hard boiled, etc). I have had this vision of “liquid chickens” stuck in my head for ages, after cracking an egg with an embryo inside way back when.

Well, today after waking up around 11a, Rory came by and asked if I wanted to go grab some food at the Mass Ave. Restaurant. I hadn’t showered yet, but went anyway after washing my face and brushing my teeth. We sat down, he talked about eggs and how I don’t eat them… He said something to the effect of “Sooner or later you are going to have to give them a second chance”. This is something that I have known for awhile, and people constantly remind me of it. Rory ordered 2 eggs, over easy, with bacon, home fries, and toast. In a moment strength (or perhaps weakness) I blurted out “I’ll have the same”, and the panic begins. I ate the eggs, and in the grand scheme of things didn’t get grossed out too much by them, but I don’t really think they were all that special taste-wise either. Dunno what I expected, and I don’t plan on making eggs a regular thing, but it still feels good to have gotten past this fear.

After breakfast I walked down to Harvard Square to run an errand for . She accidentally left her phone charger at her brother’s house in CO, so I went to the Sprint PCS store to get a replacement.

What a wonderful trip

I had a fantastic trip home this weekend. Spent alot of time on the boat, in the hot tub, with my family and friends. I took lots of pictures some of which are posted here. I should go into detail, but I slacked in my journalling duties and am simply lazy at this point. The pictures tell an adequate story.

I had a phone interview today that seemingly went very well, and landed me an in person interview this wednesday. I really want this job for many reasons, so hopefully I can drive this one out of the park.

T3.... More like a big setup for T4

grahams - - 1 min read

Came back to NJ today, got in around 6pm. Went to dinner with Family sans-Larissa at the Outback.. When we got back home, Larissa called on her way to the theater saying she had a ticket to T3 for a friend who didn’t show so would I want to come. Never one to look a free movie in the mouth, I took her up on the offer and zoomed down to Ledgewood.

The movie was an okay action movie, and Claire Danes is still a hottie. Aside from that, though, it felt like a big setup for a sequel… Problem is, however, that T3 really wasn’t that compelling… There were definately some “wow” moments, but other than that it was… not boring, but instead I guess kind of a letdown after T2.

Tomorrow is the big fireworks display on the lake, and it looks like there is going to be quite the gaggle of people on the Party Barge Regency Edition. It’s capacity is 14… :)

I really wanted to drive home today, but my fucking unemployment check didn’t arrive as per its usual schedule, and I need that money to pay rent, so I have to wait for it to arrive. I sat home today, finished off Pattern Recognition by William Gibson, which was an amazing book. It took me about a week to read, which is very fast for my standards.

Adam and Helen are fighting, all of the sudden. They left to return some library books and came back an hour later yelling at each other as they walked from the front door to the bedroom. They have been yelling at each other back there for some time now. They read this journal from time to time, which is why this entry is marked friends only. Seems to me they should just break up, but I’m external to the situation, so who knows. I gave up trying to figure them, and even Adam, out a long time ago.

Maybe I will start another book tonight…. I seem to be winding my way through my backlog pretty quickly. Perhaps I am getting faster at reading with all the practice I have been giving myself lately.

Past few days

Yesterday Corinna and I took a trip to the Animal Shelter to walk some dogs, pet some cats, and enjoy the weather. I took some pictures of a few of the animals… The pics of the young animals were taken without flash to avoid scaring them, which is why they are often blurry (needing to expose longer, and such). I also took two “misc” photos while we were on our way to the shelter. First, a picture of the intersection of Tremont St. and Tremont St.. Second, the sun sets between the two Hancock Buildings.

After playing with the animals, we went to see 28 Days Later, which was kinda sneaky because we are going to see it with the SNFC again tomorrow. We were both really itching to see it and decided we couldn’t wait.. What an awesome film, I don’t want to give anything away, so just go see it and thank me later. It was simply amazing.

Today I installed a Ceiling Fan in Corinna’s apartment. The wiring was pretty ghetto, and I had to do some serious rigging to get it up there (as there was no proper junction box nor room for one), but it is now up and running. The wiring in that apartment is crazy ancient, the connections dipped in tar and wrapped in cloth tape…

  1. How are you planning to spend the summer [winter]? Working at a job I enjoy.
  2. What was your first summer job? Cleaning up duck shit off the sand every morning down at the beach across the street from my house.
  3. If you could go anywhere this summer [winter], where would you go? I would have really liked to go to Europe this summer….
  4. What was your worst vacation ever? Our trip to Stellafane a few years ago where it just poured the entire time. It was almost enough to keep us from going ever again.
  5. What was your best vacation ever? All of my family vacations were awesome… I might have enjoyed the one to Virginia Beach the most though, not sure.

Yesterday

Yesterday was the end of my 3rd year posting to this journal. In that time I averaged 1.5 posts a day, most of which consists of garbage and rambling.
