Back in Boston

grahams - - 1 min read

I am hanging out at ’s place in anticipation for our weekend getaway tomorrow. We are going to spend Friday to Monday in Killington relaxing and eating cheese. She just went to bed but my schedule is a little different these days..

When I get back to boston on monday I am going to stick around for awhile so I can attend the poker game on tuesday. The boys are trying to get me to go to the halloween party in Ithaca next weekend but unless one of them can give me and coco a lift there I won’t be going…

General Apathy

Sorry I haven’t updated this thing lately, I guess I have been fighting off a general apathy that has tended to distract me from lots of stuff lately. I did manage to update the renovations gallery just now, so perhaps I am winning the war.. :)

Rochester was lots of fun, and FUMN was a success from all accounts. As usual, there seemed to be grumblings from a person or two that it wasn’t “fucked up” enough for them. These people just don’t get the whole point of FUMN… Anyway, this FUMN consisted of:

  1. Cannibal Ferox (a.k.a. “Make Them Die Slowly”)
  2. The ABC’s of Sex Education for Trainable Persons
  3. Tetsuo: The Ironman
  4. The Toxic Avenger II
  5. Eraserhead

The swings on the playground don't even fit me anymore

I am hanging out in the CSH User Center in anticipation of this evenings FUMN extravaganza. Admitedly, each time I come back to floor it gets weirder and weirder as I recognize fewer and fewer people. I have been introducing myself to members who already know me from last year or earlier. I’m having more and more difficult of a time recognizing the faces here… They all seem so young and I feel so old. There was a 90s party at Art House last night and I was just too fucked up by that conceptually that I couldn’t even think of attending… I mean, really, what’s next? Nine Inch Nails on Classic Rock stations?

Last night I hung out on floor for awhile and then there was a fire alarm, so we decided to move our late-night Nick’s run up to around 9pm… After yummy, glorious Nick’s, I went to Jen & Ben’s for some drunken debauchery. I am regretting these decisions today, as my head throbs…

So it’s FUMN tonight, I’m going to crash on a couch here on floor, and then tomorrow I am going to make my way back to NJ. I am going to stop by Syracuse to see on the way back…

Off to Rochester

I’m heading off to Rochester now…. I should arrive around 5:30-6pm (possibly a little sooner), and will be going straight to CSH. I want Nick’s tonight, so anyone interested should plan on heading out around 10ish.

Monopoly Game from Hell

Last night Chuck and I went over to play Monopoly with Jenn and Martin around 10pm. We didn’t leave until after 2am, and we only played one game. What made it worse is that Chuck and I busted out at around hour one, so we just sat around spectating the droll give and take of Jenn and Martin’s game. Things got pretty heated between them, and I really think they should have just packed it in early and taken a draw or something… There seemed to be some serious hate by the end of the game….

I have 3 poker DVD’s created now….. I have one DVD with the last four episodes of the 2003 World Series of Poker (no commercials) made, and two more discs, each with two episodes of the World Poker Tour (no commercials). I would have the entire WSOP on DVD, but the Tivo borked on Episode 1, so I have to wait till it is rerun until I can burn that DVD.

Renovation Gallery

I have started a photo diary of the renovations going on here at the house. There is a separate diary for the Master Bathroom, Main Bathroom, and the Kitchen I will be updating them daily-ish, and I will try to mention the updates here.

I love Penny Arcade

I’m not a big Dune fan, but I generally understand this sentiment.

Throwing Ceramic

The contractor is here demolishing the Master bathroom… My parents are renovating both bathrooms and the kitchen over the next few months, all of which sorely need it. The Master bathroom, however, is in the worst shape, so it is definitely the launchpad. I am certain they will have the thing gutted today, because the tile is barely held on the wall as it is.

was here all weekend for the long weekend, which was awesome. She took the cheap bus to get down here Friday night after work, and she didn’t get into Hoboken until around 11pm… She said it was a miserable trip, involving people vomitting and lots of traffic. She eventually got here and was pretty pissed, but she eventually warmed up … :) We went for a nice walk around Hopatcong on Saturday, and were supposed to go see Kill Bill: Volume One with “The Boys” that night, but plans fell apart so we just hung out at the house and rented Spider which I only thought was so-so. David Cronenberg’s last two movies (Spider and eXistenZ) have been total letdowns for me, hopefully he will get back on track with his next picture.

Sunday we were hanging out most of the day, we rented Saving Silverman based on the presence of Jack Black, but while the first half of the movie was fairly funny, the second half was painfully boring. Later Sunday night we finally did get out to see Kill Bill with Chuck, and it was just as enjoyable as when we saw the preview screening back in August. The movie we saw in August was almost identical to the release version, albeit the ending was slightly different (for those who saw it this weekend, A bit was added into the conversation between Bill and Sophie Fatale, as well as the footage of The Bride on the plane making her list), but it didn’t “change” the ending. After the movie we stopped by the Budd Lake Diner for some chow.

Monday found Corinna and I sleeping in for quite awhile and finally wandering into Manhattan to visit her friends Sara and David (and their daughter Sappha). Originally, we were supposed to meet with them and then Corinna was going to leave for Boston that evening, but she couldn’t get a ticket so she had to leave Tuesday morning. So I hung out with them until about 10:30pm and Corinna spent the night so she could be closer to Chinatown (and the bus stop) for her 7am bus. It sucks being so far away from her, but at least it’s “do-able”.

It looks like I may have some very short-term contracting work doing some Mozilla development for a Spanish company…. Nothing is finalized yet, but they pursued me and we have discussed rates and stuff, so it looks good. It will come out to probably about 600 bucks, but with the potential for more work in the future.
