Well, I don’t really have a SuperDrive, but I have a Pioneer DVR-105, which is the same drive model as the newer SuperDrives, so supposedly that’s enough to trick iDVD. I was able to install and start iDVD, but I am still going thru the tutorial at the end of which I am going to see if I can successfully burn it… Should be fun…
Regardless of all that, Software Update did snag the SuperDrive updater after I moved the DVD-R drive into the Mac, but when I ran the updater it said the drive didn’t need to be updated (which could either be interpreted as “drive is already up to date” or “drive isn’t a SuperDrive, spank”)… If iDVD doesn’t work with this drive i will be kinda pissed (and out $50).
there’s an update for some superdrives on apple’s site. right off of the main page; http://www.apple.com.
