I finally got to work around 9am, one hour late… There was some huge backup on Rt. 2, so I got on Rt. 2A to get around it but 2A is a local road with all kinds of traffic lights, etc. to slow you down… When I pulled into the parking lot I tried to eject the new Squarepusher CD I bought yesterday from the car stereo and it wouldn’t come out… I’m not sure what to do to get it out of there, I am going to try pulling the fuse, perhaps it just needs a reset.
Man, it really has come down in buckets the past 24 hours! Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday wishes, the day didn’t end up anywhere near as awful as it started… I had a really great day, after work I grabbed from work and we went back to the apartment and changed into some dry clothes. After that she took me to the Sunset Cantina for dinner and margaritas (as well as a shot of some fantastic Cabo Wabo). They really are pretty serious about their agave there.
I finally got my replacement Hiptop from the insurance company. Back when I was returning to the apartment after my RedHat interview I was carrying too much and fumbled my phone and it fell onto concrete from like 5 or 6 feet up… Anyway, the only thing wrong with it was the scroll wheel button was busted, and since I had just added insurance to my account, I wanted to wait until 60 days had passed so I could pay the lower deductible (\$35 vs \$70). Anyway, lots of chaos and paperwork stalled the whole procedure, and I’m just glad the phone mostly worked (I can’t imagine dealing with these jackholes when my only phone was 0xDEADDEAD).
Tonight I am going to play some cheap poker with the guys from work. Hopefully I will take them down.
It’s time for my yearly tradition of wishing Christopher Walken a very happy birthday!
Today has kinda been crappy so far… I hit a bunch of traffic coming to work, I forgot both my badge and my lunch, and I have a headache and a queasy stomach…. Hopefully I will feel better as the day moves on.
and I were at the supermarket last night and we ran into Mac “sitchmo” Mendelson! I hadn’t seen him since the final days of Rovia, so it was good to do some quick catching up. He had a mustache, which was weird, and he didn’t remember my name…. :)
I was just feeling kinda blah today, I think I am coming down with a cold, but I guess we will see.. I did a good job at work, imho, but I was dragging all day. The non-classified stuff they have me working on is necessary but boring. It is good that I am getting it out of the way now, though, because it would be a drag to switch up to it later.
Caught Good bye, Lenin! last night with the SNFC and it was surprisingly good (although it was the second SNFC movie in a row whose fundamental plot line kinda set off my bogometer).
I really need to do laundry tonight but I don’t feel like it. Even the magical allure of cleaning the dryer’s lint filter can’t motivate me.
So Comcast came yesterday and installed the Digital Cable box and dropped off the cable modem. So I am no longer completely isolated from the world. I had bought an open box SMC 802.11g router firewall dealie, but it was apparently open box for a reason and I had to return it… My Mac is now directly connected until I can order another firewall, but it is locked down pretty good so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Still waiting for my security clearance… They are saying it could be several days or week(s). I have “stuff” to work on here, but it is depleting… I have spent the past week writing docs (SRS’ mostly) and without any coding… Without tempering my yolks curdle.
