I got a new toy, the Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP Force Feedback Wheel. I have been trying to get someone to bestow a wheel to me for a few years now, but I finally decided to give it to myself. :) It rules, quite literally worth every penny… Games like Need for Speed are even greater with this addition…. I can’t wait to get home and play some more. :)
I called Verizon because when I activated my DSL, it only gave me the option for 768k downstream, 128k upstream. When I called in my order, I requested 1.5 meg downstream… They straightened that out, and they also are shipping me the webcam I was supposed to get when I did my ORIGINAL order (the one that got lost) on their website… Verizon has always been great when I have dealt with them on the phone, I really applaud their customer service skills (even if their sales/support stuff on the web is flaky).
jon pointed me at DVD Profiler, a piece of software that catalogues your DVD collection. The cool thing is that it allows you to simply type in the UPC and it gets all the rest of the information (including cover scans) for you.
For those of you interested in seeing my collection (after my massive theft, of course), click here.
Adam just called to let me know he is making dinner, so I am gonna head over there for some chow.
Stellafane was wonderful this year… As some of you may know, I go with my father and a few friends to a amateur telescope convention in the woods of Vermont. The past few years have brought us miserable rainy (and obviously, cloudy) weather, but we finally received a break this year. While there were a few small showers early on Friday, overall the weekend was rain free. While the skies weren’t as clear as stargazers hope for, we did a bit of eyeball observing on Friday night, even if it was pretty cloudy yesterday.
I am home now, cleaned up (we camp at the convention, so a few days sans showers makes Sean stink), and getting the errands that were displaced this weekend done as quickly as I can. I will probably go shopping in a little while, and for a treat to myself I took my laundry to the laundramat and left it for them to deal with. It is a bit more expensive than doing it myself, and I probably won’t do it every week, but since I am pressed for “errand time” this weekend I thought it would be a neat experiment.
I talked to Adam a bit earlier and he mentioned that Dez is in town, so he suggested that we might all go to the movies or something later… I think I might be up for that, unless the movie sounds shitty… :)
This weekend inspired me to get in touch with the Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston and perhaps attend a meeting or two of theirs… I am starting to get the astronomy bug a bit stronger again, so perhaps I will get a bit more serious about it. :)
Go and read this press release for the details, but there isn’t much to it. Palm is purchasing the assets, technology, and hiring talent from Be. I would expect this marks the end of BeOS development, but who knows…
BeNews is still down, so I can’t post it there.. :(
Earlier today I found out that I will continue to have a job for months to come… Unfortunately the same wasn’t true for a few other people in the company…. Let’s just say there is no longer anybody between me and the CTO (and I didn’t get a promotion)…
