Harvey, Harvey, Harvey the Wonder Hamster

He doesn’t bite, he doesn’t squeal

He just runs around on his Hamster Wheel

He’s Harvey, Harvey, Harvey the Wonder Hamster

That's the magic number

Warm in the office today… Oh well… Slept in a bit today after staying up late again… Went to the mall for lunch with my co-workers, ended up eating at the new “Latin Grille” at the food court… Had jerk chicken, it was pretty good for food court food… Ran into the next-door neighbor there, apparently he says he eats there every day.. Sounds like it could get very boring…

Picked up UHF on DVD, which was released today… I look forward to watching it tonight, as it has been years since I have seen it (I originally saw it in the theater). It was out of print for awhile, even on VHS, which is a travesty, because I think it is one of the funniest films….

Work is throwing a company outing to F1 Boston tomorrow, apparently we have reserved a track for a company tournament… Even though I am bad at driving those carts I am sure it will be lots of fun…

I am drained

I am so tired… Worked until 4am, woke up at 9am, and then worked until 7pm without lunch… I think I am finally starting to catch up, though…. I am fairly sure that I finally got xmlrpc and ssl all playing nicely and linking well in my app… It took quite a bit of link massaging but it finally seems to have paid off… Sure am glad I didn’t have to dust off my expat skills to write my own response parser…

I went on a shopping spree at Newbury Comics this evening… I spent way too much money, but fuck it, I have been pretty frugal the past month or two (who am I kidding, I haven’t had TIME to spend money.. :P)

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Just watched the World Cup opener with Rory and Matt, and I learned that perhaps I should have gotten in on the office pool as I was saying all week that Senegal was going to take France. I don’t know anything about soccer, though, so I didn’t make the bet… =)

Worked from home today and got quite a bit done….

Bust Booster

So we went to the mall food court for lunch, Chicken Teriyaki is yummy… On the way out, Mario stated that he needed to stop by GNC for some muscle pills or whatever the hell it is you buy in one of these stores. Omar and I were wandering around the store while Mario found what he wanted… We came across “Bust Booster”, which apparently is a cream that will increase your breast size for a few hours… It was behind a locked cabinet, so I didn’t get to read the back of the box, but this seems wicked-fishy to me… I mean, perhaps it does something to make the breasts firmer for a little while, or perhaps even increase their size by a small margin for a little while, but noticably? Sounds like snake-oil to me.

Kitchen Computer

Here’s the dilly on the aforementioned touchscreen system: It’s an ADS Graphics Client Plus, except with a 12.1" Sharp LQ12S41 LCD with a 4-wire touchscreen on it. The computer attached is a PC-104 board with a StrongARM SA-1100 onboard, as well as ethernet (and lots of other stuff, read the docs if you are interested). As I said before, my goal would be to have a nice, simple, internet appliance mounted to the kitchen wall to fetch recipes and stuff…. Geeky? Sure… But it should be a fun project…

I think I am aiming for a cheap project, though, so I am probably going to get embedded linux installed on the thing instead of dealing with licensing VxWorks, QNX, or Wince… We will see how it goes, though… I don’t yet have the flash card so I can’t boot it…. I am not sure what is installed on there now.

Thanks to another power outage my CSH address will be bouncing overnight or so… You know how to reach me if it’s important.

Andres gave me an awesome present today…. I was in negotiations to buy an old prototype LCD touchscreen that we had lying around from the very early days of the company (and a product that never even made it off the drawing board)… Today he decided to just give it to me…. Kitchen computer here we come!

Ok, time for bed

It seems that the power was abruptly shut off in NRH, so the CSH machines were very ungracefully shut down… So I am not going to be answering my CSH mail until this situation is resolved… The douche nozzles at RIT never cease to amaze me…

I got my 3-disc set of Good Eats DVDs today, and I was surprised to find out that I hadn’t seen one of the 9 episodes ( Churn Baby Churn, on making Ice Cream). I love that damn show, plus, on each of the 3 discs there is a 20-30 minute session where Alton answers viewer mail… Lots of good information covered in those segments, some rehashed from episodes and some all new…

Another long day at work tomorrow, talk to you on the flipside.
