I have a very short opportunity to purchase a 733Mhz Powermac G4 (“Quicksilver”). The machine has 128MB of RAM (although I think it really has more in it and Rovia just doesn’t realize it), 40GB Hard Disk, and a CD-RW drive… What would be a good price for this machine?
Update: To be clear: I already know the asking price, which I think is good (and confirmed through discussing it with one of the most mac-ly people I know), but I just wanted to triple-check)
Spent the weekend in CT helping move out of her parents’ house and into her new apartment. Everything went surprisingly smoothly, even though there was lots of time spent driving between the houses (was about a 60-90 minute trip each way). I got out there Saturday night, we picked up a truck (which I had the “honor” of driving.. at least I didn’t need to ride in the back this time… :P) and drove it to the storage locker where all her apartment stuff was being stored… Then back to her house to pick up some more stuff… Unfortunately, the ice rain had already started, so it was rather precarious getting out of the driveway (which is somewhere between a green dot and a blue square)… My master driving got out of there in one piece, though.. We only used the truck for one trip, but we repeated the trip a few times..
Not to say there was no fun, though… We watched Basquiat, but it sucked so badly that we didn’t even finish it (although we were really tired…).. Bowie was fantastic in it, however… The next night we went out and caught Red Dragon, which really surprised me… Was it an unnecessary remake of Manhunter? Yes. Was it better than Manhunter? No. Was it still a pretty good film when considered on it’s own? Yes. Did it have way too many shots of Ralph Fiennes ass? Definately.
Anyway, I had lots of fun spending time with Karen this weekend, even it lots of the time was spent schlepping her shit in and out of buildings.. (just kidding.. :P) :) I got back into town last night and was really tired so I didn’t do anything other than pick up my copy of Metroid Prime and beat it around for a little bit.. Seems like a really cool game…
I am waiting for my 12:15p dentist appt. They are finally taking the
impression for the last crown (on the tooth I needed surgery on)…
Hopefully they are on time, cuz I hate waiting rooms…. (I got pulled
in while writing this, so it is posted long after getting out of the
dentist…)
Went out to Duxbury for Todd’s birthday, to some chinese
restaurant/bar… I didn’t eat and I was DD, but it was still lots of
fun… Yesterday I made a turkey as a dry run for thanksgiving… It
came out amazing (thanks, alton)
just left a little while ago… She didn’t end up getting here until Sunday night, because she ended up having to look at an apartment Sunday morning, but once she got here we had tons of fun… Matt was here for the long weekend, so the three of us went out to dinner Sunday night at The Cheesecake Factory where portions are grotesque but the food is yummy.. We walked to and from dinner, which was good because it was beautiful out Sunday.. After we got back everyone got back on the Vice City horse so Karen and I watched people play that for awhile..
Monday we hung around the house for awhile and eventually ended up going to Harvard Square to go book shopping and grab some dinner. Karen and I were looking for a brownie recipe she had tried before and wanted to make… So we ended up going to the 3 bookstores in Harvard Sq. and at the last one were getting disappointed that we couldn’t find the guys book. In a burst of smartness, I decided to search for the recipe online (using my Hiptop) and found it right away, so we felt pretty stupid. Not to mention that I was really freaking hungry and she was going through all these dessert books saying “Doesn’t this look good?!?!?!?!”.. =) We ended up eating at Bertucci’s, which was yummy (even though I don’t consider it real pizza). On the way back we rented Better Off Dead because Matt and Rory claim to have never seen it, but then they were too busy playing Vice City to watch the movie so the two of us ended up watching it on my TV.
Tuesday was the day of sloth… Neither of us were very motivated to get out of the house, so we ended up watching Willy Wonka and just slacking… Eventually we decided to get out of the house and went to Jillian’s, but the weather turned exceptionally miserable and we ended up doing a ton of walking out in the nasty weather at night.. Before Jillians we ate at Brown Sugar Cafe, which makes the best Thai food, which was awesome… Jillians was fun, I got my ass beat 2 games to 1 in Air Hockey, and Karen did better at Skeeball (which makes me feel like a bad Jersey native)….
I probably glazed over some stuff but oh well, it’s my journal… =) Oh yeah, I got a package in the mail from my sister, she got me Tony Hawk 4! I was so excited because I wanted the game but I had trouble justifying it because: A) I’m unemployed and B) It’s not that much different from the other ones. I haven’t played it much yet but i’ll let you know how it is… Jobs… I talked to a guy in a company real close to me here in Central Square who has some positions open… Not sure if they want to interview me yet, but I am ‘sposed to call him on Tuesday if I don’t hear from him sooner. So keep your fingers crossed…
Went out to Harvard Sq. for lunch, ended up at the new Real Taco where I got the tamale
plate… It was only ok…. Now I am back in the apartment cleaning
up… is coming by tonight, which rules….
Made some mods to my hiptop posting script that will hopefully
provide better formatting…
Still on the fucking bus…. Thing had tire trouble that held us up for
1.5 hrs and after it was fixed we were right in rush hour… I have no
clue where we are now, but it probably isn’t massachusetts yet….
