Weirdness and Follies

I am back in Boston after a long drive late last night.. My family gave me my birthday presents a few days early, which rocks! They gave me:

I’m having some trouble with the KVM switch and the Apple USB keyboard I have been using… Keys are sticky, and sometimes when I press shift it “locks” until I tap shift again…. This is particularly annoying in Vim and when typing my password… Hopefully I can figure out what the problem is soon..

  1. What was your most memorable moment from the last week? Being in a Zombie Movie
  2. What one person touched your life this week? Too many to narrow it down to one.
  3. How have you helped someone this week? I volunteered for the zombie movie, working for free for many hours.
  4. What one thing do you need to get done by this time next week? Find a job.
  5. What one thing will you do over the next seven days to make your world a better place? Help Corinna with her new place.

You too can enjoy the Taylor Ham splendor you are removed from. The internet has definately proven it’s uselfulness to me in the past two months, but this is just icing on the cake.

NO EGG

I went to the Fleet Bank in Ledgewood to deposit a check and on the way back stopped off at the deli to get a Taylor Ham and Cheese… When I got back to the house I found there was also EGG on the sandwich. I didn’t ask for liquid chickens, and it always pisses me off when I get them. Fortunately the egg was fairly well done and not drippy, so it came off in one piece.

I’ve just been hanging around today, all my friends and family are at work, so I am just watching TV and relaxing…

Look at me, Mr. Not Updating

I guess I have forgotten to update this thing since the Zombie episode, so let me try and remember what I missed. NOTHING! I blew all of Monday trying to shoehorn tivo mpeg-2 streams onto DVD without recompression, and despite having instructions from the interweb couldn’t get it to work. Corinna came over for a bit Monday night, which was cool… I dropped her off and got back to the apartment to find Matt there, who was interviewing Tuesday morning… I hope he gets the job because it would be awesome for him to return to the Boston area!

Today I came back to NJ to visit the family for a few days… I figured I would be castrated if I didn’t visit before my “special day”, but I would hate to be travelling and crap on that day, so I came home today… I know they would prefer if I was actually here on my birthday, but it’s my damn birthday and I’ll hide in boston if I want to. :)

Tomorrow the plan is Taylor Ham & Cheese (THC), Pizza, and perhaps a sub from somewhere…

Corinna came over around noon yesterday and we headed out to the Boston Common megaplex to see The Hours. What a fantastic yet sad movie… She had seen it already, but it was new to me. Dad’s High-School Chum did a fantastic job, and i was really impressed by Julianne Moore, who hasn’t really impressed me as an actress until now. But Nicole Kidman as Virginia Woolf definately stole the show… She was stellar. I even got a little misty at the end of the movie, but they were manly tears, I promise. :)

After the movie we headed over to MassArt for our make-up call. Acting in a zombie movie was one of the best experiences of my life, even if I am still picking little bits of liquid latex out of my hair… I got to shamble around, eating the entrails of my victims, and wear a nasty, nasty, nasty jean jacket with one of those faux-sheep skin linings… Let me tell you, once that thing got sufficiently clogged up with stage blood and corn syrup it was pretty uncomfortable to wear. And after 6-7 hours on set with the makeup applied, my face started to itch like I can’t describe. I only have a vague notion of how zombied up I was, but I really won’t get an idea until I see the film. Corinna, however, had the shamble and moaning down pat, and she was uglied up pretty well too.. Good thing for her that the makeup washes off… :)

I was talking with the director on our way out last night (at 11pm) and he said they might have another day of shooting in a few weeks…. Some kind of outdoor shot, so I presume he is waiting for the weather to improve. Should be fun!

Kick to Kill

Had trouble getting tired last night so I was up until like 4am before passing out. I woke up several times throughout the night, and ended up tossing and turning until noon or so. Corinna was in the area around 3pm and stopped by for a few minutes before returning to work. I made some Sloppy Joes for dinner and watched the DVD of the documentary Smothered: The Censorship Struggles of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. It was really interesting and it is the subject of my next review for The Brain.

Tomorrow Corinna is coming over and we are going to go see The Hours (Which she has already seen, but I have missed up until now) in the early afternoon. After the movie we are heading over to MassArt to act in a student film. We get to be Zombies! I found out about this over at the LJ a few weeks ago, but the scheduling never worked out. The filmmaker added another day of shooting tomorrow, though, so we are going to head over there and shamble around for awhile (although, to be honest, i’m not sure if we are talking Night of the Living Dead/Dead Alive shambling zombies or more “Return of the Living Dead” ones). Anyway, it should be fun as hell, and I will bring my digital camera to see if I can get any good behind the scenes pics.

  1. If you had the chance to meet someone you’ve never met, from the past or present, who would it be? Alicia Witt, and I think you know why…. :)
  2. If you had to live in a different century, past or future, which would it be? While I did live in the late 20th century, I would really like to be around for the first part of that century. So much technological and scientific innovation occured during that time. Of course, I really like living now, so I wouldn’t go anywhere unless I could come back.
  3. If you had to move anywhere else on Earth, where would it be? I’m not sure, because there is nothing really stopping me from going wherever I want. I think at some point I would like to spend some time on the west coast, and I would like to spend some time in Europe, but nothing is stopping me from living wherever I want.
  4. If you had to be a fictional character, who would it be? Molly from Neuromancer, She’s so badass.
  5. If you had to live with having someone else’s face as your own for the rest of your life, whose would it be? I can’t answer this one, I have been thinking of an answer for like 15 minutes now but just can’t come up with one..

Mutt Mitt

Corinna stopped by after work and took me to the Animal Shelter downtown. She is a volunteer, walking doggies a few times a week. It sounded like alot of fun so I decided to tag along this time. We walked two dogs, a cute little puppy named Shadow and an older stray named Bear. Shadow got tired and cold, apparently, quickly so he only got walked for about 15 minutes, but Bear was a tank and was good for 45 (until it got too cold out for us). It’s weird dealing with dogs in the city, but it was alot of fun. Perhaps I will do it again in the future!

Played some Splinter Cell tonight, seems like a great game…

Watching the war on television is weird. Watching the war on TiVo, and rewinding bits so you can analyze them further, as if it was a football game, makes you feel even more detached from reality.
