It never fails: During the first few weeks of school, I come down with an annoying cold. I have always presumed that it has something to do with all these people from around the country bringing their own custom-bugs to Rochester. I have no idea if that’s the truth, but it makes me feel better. :)
I have a Prob n’ Stat exam tomorrow, and I am studying for that right now (well, not right now, but I promise I will resume after this break). I also have my big phone interview on Wednesday, and I have to admit, I am really nervous…
I downloaded the free version of QNX Realtime Platform today. What a piece of shit. :) It allegedly supports all of my hardware, but the only thing to actualy work is my video. Network, Sound, USB, and more all fail to work. The GUI is pretty nasty, also…..
I had always had a negative impression of QNX after hearing other developer’s horror stories. I at least had hoped that the OS was fun to use if it sucked to code for. I don’t know why this OS would ever get used on anything but low-level embedded stuff.
I have proposed this question to many people, yet have not been able to ascertain an answer.
Why don’t people work from the top down when they are taking a shower? When I take a shower, I wash my hair last. You would think that this doesn’t make sense; You are washing all the nastiness out of your hair and when you wash out your hair, it just runs down your “clean” body. I mean, I am no clean-freak or anything, but this simply doesn’t make sense. And other people have told me that they follow the same pattern.
I mean, I am not going to change and start washing my hair first, but it is something that has left me in mystery for quite some time.
After much procrastination and many complaints, I finally made my friends page look like my journal page. The only stylistic difference you will probably notice is the width of my journal seems smaller than my friends. Well this is because of Jerry’s wide-ass cartoon from a few days ago spreading out my table…. In a day or two it will be back to normal.. :P Anyway, let me know what you think of it. I am not 100% pleased with it, but I am approaching it…
tension: Pending phone interview with a certain Silicon Valley company on Wednesday. I really hope it goes well..
excitement: I think it is occuring to me that I am almost done here… It’s about time.
stress: Classwork compounded with tight deadlines at work. They are not totally overboard, but I am keeping busy. I am hoping to get a bit ahead of schedule this weekend.
web page revisions: I added a schedule to my webpage, among other minor revisions. I was originally planning on adding graphics and stuph to it, but I think I like it as all plain text. What do you think?
Finishing up my deadline material for work, which is going well. It kinda sucks that the majority of my free time during the week happens during the second half. It makes for some really rushed time. :)
I got both my Skinny Puppy “Track 10” limited edition today (197/400) and my “Too Dark Park” tour poster. It is cool, but I am going to have to leave the poster unframed until I move…
I’ve had alot of busy lately, whether it’s for class, work, or fun. Most of the fun stuff has gotten far too low of a priority, but I don’t see that changing in the next few weeks (with the deadline at work, and the projects for class, and all). It is cool, however, that I am not tied to hours that are set in stone for work though… It is nice to be able to work whenever I find time (even if that means 1 am).
The aforementioned bug from a few days ago turned out to be no big deal. Somewhere in between betas a config file was lost. Most of the testers had the file from a previous beta release, but since I reinstalled everything a few weeks ago, and I started with the latest beta, I didn’t get the file, and therefore my machine was wide open. It has been corrected.
Ok, I understand the concept of Beta Testing and all, but every once in awhile you get a bug that really shakes the shit out of you. Today I discovered a bug in a product I am testing, and it was a fairly serious security bug. This is a product I have been testing for several months, and to think that my machine has been fairly wide-open that time is frightening.
Oh well, the bug has been reported, and hopefully we will be able to track it down soon. Luckily, this product isn’t public, or it would be some serious egg on the face of the company.
