The bus I had hoped to get on this morning came 5 minutes early, so I had to wait 35 minutes for the next bus, which sucked a lot… While I was waiting there was this bitter old man complaining about how the bus was 5 minutes early…. In fact, he was complaining the WHOLE time. Then he started talking about how we should just go and kill the people who “caused all the trouble” in NYC/DC, and how in China if this happened they would have been shot without a trial.
He then went on to talk about how the Israelis and Palestinians should just live in peace… How we only get to live once, and they shouldn’t be tying up themselves killing each other. For some reason I took amusement in the cavernous hole in this person’s logic, but unfortunately I couldn’t get him to stop talking and let me read my book… He then started up about the bus being early again… At this moment, another angry guy started up on the bus as well, and they both started riffing on how it was the worst bus line in the U.S.A….
The bus finally came and I finally got the opportunity to read my book some more, and then when I got to Harvard Square, the red line train was delayed as well… I am not in the best of moods starting today. :)
This album is so beautiful… Someone “liberated” my copy a very long time ago, so I haven’t listened to it in a long time…. I wish I hadn’t waited so long…
I actually got to work at a reasonable time this morning (i.e. around 9:30a) and that included getting to the post office to get a few packages in the mail. I really like the post office near work, nice and clean, and the people were moderately nice too (which is what I expect from anyone who has to face customers..)
I actually brought lunch into work today, a tradition I am hoping to continue to do. This is in part an aspect of my money saving strategy, and part an aspect of my “getting my gut under control” strategy. Why am I trying to save money? Well, first of all, my computer at home is pissing me off more each day, and I would like to replace it in November (which would make my current machine 3 years old). Second, it is just plainly a good idea, no? Why am I trying to lose weight? Because I saw a picture of myself from early in my freshman year at RIT, and I want to get back to that much more moderate level of out-of-shape.. I have been losing weight slowly (very slowly) since I got out of school, but I want to expedite that a bit, just because. So I have been trying to get outside for exercise a bit more, and also have been trying to eat a bit wiser…
I am pretty tired today….. Hopefully lunch will give me a good kick in the pants…. If not I will go take a walk around Kendall and find my way around.
Friday night I made some cookies (oatmeal raisin, which rocked, imho) and later on (much later, actually) Adam, Rory, and Frankie came over and we just sat around and watched some Cops on the TiVo. Saturday I woke up real late and later that day Adam, Rory, and myself played Counter Strike until the wee hours of the morning. Sure it’s a lame way to spend a Saturday night, but eat me. :)
Today I have just cleaned up around here, and I am making some more cookies now (chocolate chip) to bring to work, just because. I have tried to relax this weekend and I am beginning to feel better. I finally got to play Motor City Online a bit today, which seems to be cool… I think I am just video gamed out this weekend, and I will probably give it another attack later in the week….
It’s hard to believe that I have been in Boston for 5 months already…. Astonishing, really… Apparently phyber is working hard on moving into her new house, and I hope it’s going well for her… In other news, my strategy of saving money seems to be working slowly… :)
I am very spacey today… Perhaps it is the cold that I am starting to get over… I am finding it very hard to concentrate today, but it wouldn’t be the first time in my life I have had that problem…. Working on getting Highlights working in the XUL UI.
Sometimes relying on public transit is a shitty thing…. The 86 bus from Harvard Square to Cleveland Circle (which runs somewhat close to my apartment) was very, very late tonight….
