I picked up the new Aphex Twin album “Drukqs” today at Other Music… I was kinda busy on the phone and taking naps this evening, so I haven’t given it a strong once-over yet… Some of the tracks I have heard so far though are stellar, and some are so-so… I will probably listen to both discs throughout tomorrow at work, so I will probably espouse my opinion then… :)
The BeNews team has been talking over some ideas to revitalize our site and our interest in working on it… We have been talking of employing Wiki to create a dynamic BeOS news site that is edited and written by everyone in the community (not just us editors). The idea would be that since everyone can edit anyone elses post, or add to it, the system would self moderate: Sure some nefarious script kiddies could blow away data, but equally the productive members of the community could also blow away the goatse.cx nonsense the losers post…. I think the key thing we have to keep in mind, however, is that while we may start this site with the intention that it becomes a BeOS Wiki, it is the readership that will have the true power to steer this in the way they desire… If the readership decides that they want to talk about other things all of the sudden, they will..
I don’t forsee this new project bearing the BeNews moniker, but I believe that many of the principles in BeNews will be behind it..

..has started to subside, finally… Earlier, I had decided to go out to the Star Market to get some staples… I stood on the curb waiting for the bus, and my head really started to make me angry… I decided to get the bare minimum of what I needed (toilet paper and some beverages [no, not alcoholic]) at the quik-e-mart and come back to lie down… I have just been watching TV…
I decided to get rid of many of the large electronics boxes I had around the house today.. I had the box for my Receiver, my TiVo, and my new computer parts lying around here in my closet or on the floor… I decided that the return window on the TiVo and Receiver had passed, and they were taking up way too much room, so they are on the curb…
There is a new documentary on the World Trade Center, created before the attack, on the History Channel tonight at 10pm… I will probably give that a look-see…
I woke up this morning with a gigantic headache which hasn’t gone away… I have just blobbed around most of the day, thinking that rest will help this condition, but it has yet to do so… Back to blobbing. :)
Woke up rather early today, given my 4am sleep time… I woke up, continued the arduous process of getting this computer to be configured to my liking.. After talking with on the phone for awhile, I decided to head out to CompUSA. My old motherboard didn’t have any spare fan headers on the board, so I had to rig the fan I had in there with a drive power connector to get it to spin. Since this new mobo has 2 extra fan headers, I decided to get a few fans to help keep this monster cool. I also got another USB Visor cradle (I had brought the other one to work, since the USB one didn’t work on the old mobo, and used a serial one here)…
On my bus ride to CompUSA (surrounded by sexy french exchange students, no less), Adam and Frances called…. We had talked about going Pumpkin and Apple picking this weekend, but it had kinda slipped my mind. I told them to pick me up at CompUSA and we were off. The place was really cool, and I honestly don’t know if I had ever been apple picking before… Anyway, we scored a beautiful half bushel of some weird apple variety I had never heard of before, and I also got a bitchin’ pumpkin (pictures to come)… We came back to my place, and made Pork Tenderloin, which was first soaked in an Apple brine, and then basted with quasi-homemade Apple Barbeque sauce while on the grill. In addition we made up some mashed potatoes and Apple Pie and Apple Crisp while the meat cooked…. Mmmm, those apples are so good!
After dinner, we watched Episode I and then parted ways… We had talked about catching the midnight showing of Silence of the Lambs at the Fenway Theater tonight, but I am kinda tired….
I just stepped down as Editor in Chief over at the currently-down BeNews… It is something I have been considering for the past week or two, finally making up my mind a few days ago. It isn’t that I don’t enjoy using Be any longer, but instead that every time I have tried to do some BeNews work in the past few months the server was down… I guess I didn’t do to badly though, I think I might have been the EIC with the longest reign (possibly second after ziemkowski, who was the first EIC).
I guess I am kinda sad about stepping down, but I really haven’t been doing what I should for the site….
MY NEW COMPUTER WORKS!!!!!! I got the second DIMM I had ordered in the mail today, and installed it in my machine…. This proves that the fault lies with the other DIMM and not the motherboard… I am getting the RMAed Mobo (even though I don’t apparently need it) and DIMM on monday, so I will soon have all the components I ordered working!
Let the configuration begin! (Note: Be doesn’t ever require “configuration”, it just works…. Which is why I am able to write this message. :P)
