Omar and Pedro checked in the client authentication code to our trunk, and now things are seriously broken… Not broken in the sense of “Our Product’s Screwed”, though. Apparently our Client Auth code is a native library that they are calling from the server via JNI. I don’t fully understand the situation, but apparently JNI will only load a library once… This isn’t a problem for a production setup, but since each developer here has their own set of servlets and clients, it turns out that the first set of servlets to call the JNI methods is the only one that will work with the JNI methods until Tomcat is restarted…
Again, I don’t fully understand the problem, but the effect is that we are having to timeshare the server today (one developer working at a time) until Omar develops a workaround…. This sucks so badly…. I am actually trying to work on something cool today…
I just watched the snippets of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on VH-1… Thank god for the Talking Heads… Even after 10 years apart they still were dead on… I kinda wish they would make more new music, but at least they have a wonderful catalog of music to get me through times like this…
Ok, so I watched an episode of " Smallville" last night, to try and figure out why so many of my friends talk about it. Beyond the fact that the show is a complete piece of shit, another thing bothered me. Why is Annette O’Toole, who played Lana Lang in Superman III being allowed to play Martha Kent in Smallville? That is just way too out there.
I don’t understand why people like that show… It is awful… Then again, I never really liked the garbage teenie-bopper programming that seems to have infiltrated the networks… Buffy, Dawson’s Creek, Smallville, et. al. can all go away as far as I am concerned.

Today is my pappy’s birthday, but he is on vacation with my mom in Florida, so I don’t think I will actually have the opportunity to wish him well… If he is reading this, well, Happy Birthday!!
My birthday is coming up but I don’t even really realize it.. I guess it is my current workload dampening my perception of what is going on around me… It sounds like Amy might come up for a visit my birthday weekend and might come up the weekend after.. I like when my friends visit me, it helps keep me sane.. :P

If I didn’t live 15 minutes from work I would assuredly be sleeping there… Adam and I got the client side damn-near feature complete last night… He has to touch up stickynotes today and I have to do some policy enforcement stuff, but feature wise, things are looking good. I have to also finish up the two alternate booklists (my documents, and my bookmarks).
Unfortunately, there is a show-stopper bug in my court, which is going to mean a rewrite of the XML-RPC client… The client is apparently exacerbating some XPConnect bug (in 0.9.1) which is causing a memory corruption.. I could do without these last-minute kicks to the nuts… I asked adam to make the VPN work with the WinXP Cisco client so I could work from home this weekend… At least that gives me the illusion of not working, right?
My boss for the first time kind of implied that we would be working straight through the next two weekends… He said that after the end of the month we would be able to have some days off to make up for lost time… Perhaps I will go somewhere for a week….
Oh my god… Adam and I were walking from the Kendall Sq. T station to work (a one minute walk) and as we turned the corner into the parking lot, I hear someone call out “Sean??”. I turn around and stare at this character for awhile, not recognizing who it is… Finally it clicks: I am looking at the one, the only, Jay Pacheco. He cut his hair short and had a goatee (and he looked a little taller than I remember, actually), but there he was… He happened to be walking back from some training class he had in the area and we just so happened to pass by him… We talked briefly and he is now invited to our party on March 30th… He said he was going to be there, hopefully he comes thru on that… :)
