UPS kindly redirected the package from Cambridge to NJ free of charge, so I received my replacement hiptop today… It seems to be working, but the signal sucks so badly here that it is always tough to tell… I get bursts of signal as the winds change or whatever… I will have to take it out in the car up into town later to see if it is really working (and to change the call forwarding settings).
A favor for which I thought would be a quickie turned into an epic quest this morning, but it wasn’t a big deal or anything… I just vastly misestimated the amount of time required to track down an item that apparently isn’t available in the middle of nowhere..
Met up with Amy and James tonight at the diner, so I smell like disgusting smoke now… And my voice is all hosed (thanks to smoke) so my singing on the ride home was screwed…
Time to get ready for bed, but I have some reading to do before sleep.
I called on Sunday to arrange the replacement of my Sidekick. The guy asked what address I wanted it sent to, and I asked him how long it would take to arrive, since I was leaving for NJ. He said that I could pay \$15 for overnight shipping, and I said “well, if it can be here by Tuesday than I want it shipped to Cambridge”. He said that wouldn’t be a problem, so I paid the \$15.
Fast forward to today, and the phone still hasn’t arrived. I call T-Mobile to ask where the hell it is, and they tell me it hasn’t even shipped yet. I ask if I can have it redirected to NJ, and they tell me no. So they sold me the \$15 fast ship option by lying to me, and now I am fucked. So I have to leave money behind so hopefully one of my roommates can ship the phone to NJ once it finally arrives Friday or whenever… Complaint time is a-coming..
Ok, I am new to this game, but does anyone know why my VisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 4600Ti won’t work in my PowerMac? Do I need special AGP cards or some stupid crap like that? When I install the card the machine apparently boots but the display never comes up…. Any ideas?
Adam and I saw Star Trek: Nemesis last night at the 5 dollar theater near his condo. It was decent (for a Star Trek movie), but there were some completely god-awful scenes in it….
Adam and I operated as planned, and we started skiing around noon today… Because we started at noon I got a discount on the lift ticket (half day)… We skiied until 2:30p, which doesn’t sound like alot but when there are no lift lines and you haven’t skiied in years it adds up. It also didn’t help that I biffed like crazy and thought I broke my leg at one point. Adam fell at the same time and agreed that the trail was WAY too icy. While that is a fine excuse for him, I know that the fall was my fault.. :P
It’s still sore as hell, about 4 inches below the knee, but I am pretty sure it is just really bruised. Of course, my history with skiing injury dictates that I need to suck it up and finish the day, which is exactly what I did.
It was a great day, but it was so, so cold… There was NO sun on the mountain and it was 3 degrees at the summit (around 20 at the base). The wind stung so badly and by 2:30 my fingers started to feel really numb even through my gloves. I decided to pack it in, and adam was cool with that, cuz the mountain closed at 3:30 anyway.
I haven’t gotten my replacement hiptop yet, which is annoying because I was using it for long distance, etc. It should come tomorrow, so I will probably stick around boston until it shows up… I will have to see in the morning how I feel about driving, though, because while my leg was fine driving back from NH, my ass is really sore from slamming into the ice on that fall.
Adam and I are leaving for his condo at Loon around 3pm, and we are going skiing all day tomorrow. Should be fun, although I expect to be properly sore the following day. I plan on leaving for NJ on Wednesday or Thursday (depending mostly on said soreness), and I will probably stay there until the New Year. I have to remember to load up the iPod for the trip before I leave… Perhaps I will do that now.
My hiptop died today under suspicious circumstances, but T-Mobile is overnighting me a new one tomorrow, so all should soon be well… As if the god of telecommunications was literally woke up this morning and said “Hey, it’s a good day to fuck with Sean”, this evening I picked up my Panasonic cordless phone to call my T-mobile voicemail and the keypad started wonking out on me. I took it apart and it just seems the “magic pads” are delaminating. I have had this phone since before RIT, so it has had a long life… I guess it might be time to replace it..
