Misti (Building Manager) called to let us know that we were approved for the apartment. Rock on!

My kid sister got a LJ, which means my whole family is now kicking it journal style.. :)

Went to see the building manager of our new apartment this morning to drop off the rest of the paperwork. She said that everything looked fine, even with me with no job, so she hasn’t told us for sure yet but she said that she didn’t expect there to be any problems and that she would call later today, which is cool. Got to see the apartment again, since Rory was along for the ride this time, and I don’t regret our decision at all. We are going to need to decorate a bit, however, because it’s very sterile in that Capstone/University Commons kinda way.

After that I walked to MIT with Rory and we grabbed breakfast at DD. After that I grabbed a haircut (which is why i wanted to go down to MIT in the first place) and stopped by The Artist Formerly Known as Rovia. Carlos was out sick and Mario had to meet someone for lunch, but Omar and I hung out for awhile and grabbed some lunch.

Meeting up with Rose for dinner over in the Fenway, perhaps we will end up at Brown Sugar!!!

I was watching the Simpson’s episode of Inside the Actors Studio, and in the first 15 minutes, while he was going through introducing all of the cast members, there was a little peek-a-boo of David Byrne in the audience… Guess he just likes the show…

My New Apartment

Here are some pictures of what will hopefully become my new place. The lease hasn’t been signed yet, though, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Went back to Eye Q today because my new frames needed a bit of adjustment (they were really tight around my ears, and hurt after awhile), and they took care of it right away. I also took care of some other errands while I was out. Tonight I am going out to the Milky Way Lounge to hear Jon play there around 9pm…. It sucks to have to go all the way out to JP in this weather, though…

Mom and Dad got here a bit before noon on Saturday.. We did some shopping for my sisters and got some food, and later we went to see Space Station 3D which was fantastic. It was the first IMAX 3D film I have seen, and it was just breathtakingly beautiful… There was even a bit of Talking Heads on the soundtrack, which is never a bad thing.

After the movie we went to dinner at Legal Sea Foods, which was also fantastic… One of the best restaurant meals I have had in a very, very long time (I had the Grilled Everything Tuna for my main course and Bananas Foster for dessert).

Mom and Dad left around 1pm-ish, and I caught up on some stuff I needed to do around the house. I was getting ready to meet up with the Sunday Night Film Club for The Quiet American tonight, and was cleaning my glasses when they broke in half at the nose. I looked at the website for Eye Q Optical (where I originally bought the glasses) and saw they closed at 4pm, so I dug up my old glasses, ran out of the house to Harvard Square, and made it there at 3:30p. They were as helpful as always, giving me a replacement frame free of charge. I once again highly recommend them to anyone looking for glasses in the Boston area. I got out of Eye Q around 3:45p, and ran to the T, which dropped me off at Kendall Square around 4pm. I ran to the theater and got there with about 10 minutes to spare.. Caught up with Corinna and Bernard, who were also cutting it close, and when we got in the theater we got less-than-great-but-not-completely-crappy seats.

The movie was really good, and Michael Caine was great (apparently not drunk, either), but Brendan Fraser was somewhat annoying, but not terribly so. After the movie we ended up at the Cambridge Brewing Company for dinner/drinks.

Jim Jones Night

Met up with a new friend, Rose, for tea around lunchtime, but it was cut short due to the pretty serious weather here… The snow was pretty intense from morning until evening, and lunchtime it was just crazy… The flakes were gigantic and the rate of accumulation was just impressive… But it was really beautiful…

Corinna came over tonight to hang out. She is currently shopping for her first house, and she had a chance to look at one tonight so I drove her over to my old ‘hood in Brighton. I took my digital camera so she could take pictures (she brought film but the digicam just made more sense).. After we came back we grabbed some dinner at Del Casa de Rotisserie (Rotisserie House) and she actually got me to drink some wine… This is the second time this week I have had a glass of wine, not sure what I am thinking of it yet… After dinner we busted out the Trivial Pursuit and played along with Adam and Helen… Helen dropped out after an hour or two, and Adam dropped out a little while later (damn-close to winning). Corinna and I finished out the game, with me winning by a small margin.. It definately wasn’t the ass-trouncing I had promised her, but I still feel good about my win. *l*

Update: I forgot to mention that when Corinna and I were walking back with our dinner in hand I slipped and fell on the snow, cracking my knee into the concrete sidewalk… It hurt so bad but after walking it off it was OK… It doesn’t even really hurt anymore, but I’m sure it will be a bit `cranky’ in the morning…

Spent awhile cleaning up the living room and kitchen, focusing mostly on the floor which was terribly grimy and got to the point where I didn’t even want to walk around in socks down there.. It took awhile but it’s much more presentable down there… I felt a bit silly cleaning a place I am going to be leaving in a few weeks, but whatever, my neurosis is mine and you can’t have it!

This weekend my parents are visiting, which should be tons of fun… I go home quite a bit but it’s more difficult for them to make it up here. Hopefully the weather won’t suck too badly.

Punjabi Dabi

Gaurav is moving out tomorrow and wanted to get together with all of us for lunch, so after trying a few other places first (which were closed, or ruled out for other reasons) we ended up going to Punjabi Dabi, which was great. I hadn’t been there before, and Gaurav said it was his “little secret” in Boston, which he apparently wanted to share with us today.. :) After lunch we dropped Rory back off at MIT and drove over to the bakery on Cambridge St. and I got some Cannolis, which I had been craving…

Looks like it is going to be Adam, Rory, and I in the new apartment (you know, the one we haven’t found yet), which is cool. Adam had been undecided as to where he was going to be living, but we talked it over last night and straightened it all out…
