B-Line

I forgot how badly the B-Line sucks…

Doot Doot Doot

Spent alot of time with Corinna yesterday, she signed off on her new apartment and moved the first load of “necessities” over late last night. I went over to check the place out (although I had seen it once before) and to get an idea of what I would be doing to help her out. While I am not helping her move in, I am going to help her with some of the prep work for painting, remodeling, etc. Hopefully I won’t botch it; I’ve never done any of this stuff before and I hate Trading Spaces. :)

I ran some errands this morning: Returning the KVM to Belkin for RMA, sending a mail bomb to , squandered money on a new CD (Aphex Twin - “26 Mixes for Cash”, which is really good, so it wasn’t as much squandered as an unnecessary purchase :P), took a nap, and applied for a FREAKING AWESOME sounding job (working with Chandra!) Hopefully I can get my foot in the door there…

Mozilla issued an Updated Roadmap today. It is an exciting announcement, stating that the 1.4 (upon completion) will become the stable branch recommended to integrators, and that 1.4 will be the last major release of the traditional Mozilla application suite. After 1.4, Mozilla.org will focus on non-integrated applications (seperate browser [phoenix], mail [minotaur/thunderbird], etc), which will serious increase performance, lower footprint, and IMHO, improve the overall design of the project. This is something that I have been arguing for some time (to my peers, not to Mozilla.org), so I’m glad to see I wasn’t completely crazy. :)

My Special Day

grahams - - 2 mins read

Today was my birthday, and as far as birthdays go, I definately can’t complain. Many thanks to all those who sent cards, gifts, or wished me well. As I said, I never intended for today to be that big of a deal, I was just hoping for a low profile day, which I created for myself.

I had lots of trouble sleeping last night, eventually falling asleep at 5am. I woke up at 10am, thinking that if I shorted myself on sleep I would have an easier time falling asleep tonight. We will see how that works out. After waking up and grabbing the first meal, I walked down to the Kendall Barber shop to get the mop chopped. I came back and watched some TV and just hung out. Corinna was supposed to cut out of work early and take me to see Gangs of New York, but she wasn’t able to get out early (since she is taking the next week off to deal with her new apartment). She stopped by after work though to wish me a happy birthday (and give me presents!). The smartass gave me two books, Don’t Know Much About Geography and Cracking the AP European History Exam. You may ask yourself “Self? Why the hell did she give him those books?” The answer is that since I suck at those categories so badly at trivia, and because I applied to audition for Jeopardy, I could use the practice. It is an awesome gift, if not a wee bit embarassing. :)

Another awesome gift came in the mail today, courtesy of . She got me the Cosmos Boxed DVD Set, which I have been jonesin’ to get for a long time now. I haven’t seen that series in who-knows-how-long!! She also gave me a little magnetodog for the fridge!

I guess that isn’t stopping by after all tonight… Actually, I guess if she did catch tonight’s concert it could still be going on, but I hadn’t even heard from her as to whether or not she was going to be in town.. That said, I can’t imagine she would miss a Grant show. :)

Again, thanks to everyone… It’s nice to grow old with so many cool people as your friends…. I promise to try and annoy you less this year.

You too can get an excellent “Angel Dust” era soundboard bootleg of Faith No More here (While Supplies Last). Highly Recommended!

The Tri-force Birthday/Housewarming Extravaganza

grahams - - 1 min read

Normal humans would be sleeping now, but screw that. I’m on Baghdad time, or something like that… :)

I just decided that our Housewarming/Birthday extravaganza is going to be on Good Friday… So, if you didn’t get the invitation and think you should have, send me a message.

I wish I was tired…. I think I am going to lie down and read some of my Toxie book…

Anti-Anti-Anti-Anti War

grahams - - 1 min read

Someone posted pics from today’s protest here in Boston with some pretty funny commentary… He took the piss out of both the anti and pro people (as well as some idiot protesting something completely unrelated)….

I can’t form a solid opinion on whether or not I want this war to be happening, but fuck, it doesn’t matter much now, does it? I now just hope that the Gub’ment was right and I was wrong, that we kick ass, take names, and get our troops home safely and quickly. I have no doubt that Saddam is an evil motherfucker, so even though I would prefer that we weren’t over there now, now that we are, let’s do it right.

Punk ass trippin' in the dead of night

My name is Sean, and I’m addicted to movies.

After calming down about the KVM fiasco, I made myself a Taylor Ham and Cheese sandwich (which is kinda rewarding when you are doing so in Boston), kicked back on the couch, and watched A Clockwork Orange which was on the TiVo. I hadn’t seen it in a long time, and had forgotten how good it was… After that I took advantage of the nice weather and walked over to Kendall Cinema to catch Russian Ark for my review this week. When I got back I hung around for awhile, futzing with some projects I have been working on, and then I sat down to watch Dawn of the Dead, which I have been jonesing for since acting in the Zombie movie last weekend. I mentioned renting it to Corinna last weekend, and she seemed interested in watching it… Hopefully I won’t be in trouble, but if so, I can watch it again… Plus, the next movie in my Netflix queue is Day of the Dead.. :)

I really wanted to take a bath, but really, can you take a bath without bubbles? I say no. So I walked over to Star Market and scored some supplies. I got Elmo bubble bath, it’s watermelon scented. I would have preferred Mr. Bubbles (put your balls in my mouth), but it was MIA.

Fuck Belkin

grahams - - 1 min read

So I finally disconnected the aforementioned Belkin KVM Switch. The persistent key problem I spoke of yesterday wasn’t going away, even after I tried a different keyboard (which I had to go out and “rent” from Micro Center). I spoke to a Belkin rep on the phone yesterday and he said that if a different keyboard didn’t fix the problem then I would have to RMA the unit, which eats it. I filled out the RMA request on their website a few minutes ago, but I’m sure I won’t get a response any time soon…

At least my other birthday present works right… It just sucks that I have to manually switch cables between the two machines again for a few weeks while Belkin sends me a replacement. And to be honest, I expect that I will have the same problem with the replacement. When one of your primary applications is Vim, this persistent keypress bug is pretty frustrating…
