Ok, so Corinna, Matt, and myself drove down to Six Flags yesterday. Corinna and I had been talking about going for some time now, and she decided that it would be a good day to go. Matt had already taken Wednesday off, so he joined in on the action. It was a slightly rainy day, so we figured crowds would be diminished and lines would be short. For the most part we were dead on, although when we first got there there was some significant school trippage. First Ride: Superman, and the line was about 20 minutes long. After our first ride we noticed that the line was down to about 5 minutes, so we went again. Pretty much the rest of the day we didn’t wait on any lines longer than about 15 minutes, which isn’t bad at all.
We also finally had the opportunity to ride the Sky Coaster, which was awesome. Worth the extra money for sure!
Today I get to spend \$300 bucks getting the windshield in Maude replaced. Fun!
I’m about to jump back in the car and start the drive back to MA. I have a few errands to run on the way, so it will be a bit before I actually hit the highway.
While last night’s Rollins’ Band benefit for the West Memphis 3 wasn’t a real Black Flag concert, it’s probably the closest thing we will see to it in a long time.
The opening band, Puny Human, was not bad but not my thing either. This band features Iann Robinson, from MTV “fame”, on drums. He really surprised me, he could play pretty freakin’ well. Not to mention that I saw him singing along with all the Black Flag songs that were being played… The singer for Puny Human seemed really awkward on stage, but he seemed to be having a good time anyway.
Keith Morris took the stage first, with Mother Superior behind him (a.k.a. Rollins’ Band sans Henry). He said “Hi, we’re Rollins Band” and gave a little speech on the importance of the benefit. Then they cranked into “Nervous Breakdown” and the crowd when completely insane. Throughout the set it seemed that at times the entire floor was one big pit. After about 9 songs, Keith left the stage and Henry filled his place. Man, Hank is so god-damned intense. He really seemed to be enjoying himself, and was sweating like a dog… They played about 12 songs, before they left the stage. They came back for the encore, and played “Damaged”, as well as “Rockaway Beach” (after Henry gave a speech about meeting Joey Ramone) and “Time Bomb” (after Henry gave a speech about how this song was his personal national anthem) by the Ramones.
This concert was almost a religious experience, and that’s about all I can say to describe it. If you have the chance, catch this tour before it’s all gone.
What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but never have
Travel abroad. I have my passport now, but I just need a job to fund my
travels now… :)
When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are youalways honest
Yes, unless I don’t like the person and they look
like an idiot. But I am usually honest (like when I tell Adam he needs a
god-damned haircut).
Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished youhadn’t? What happened
Yes. I got over it, but it took a long time.
If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.)which would it be and why
Neuromancer, for obvious “computer in the
cranium” reasons.
What’s one talent/skill you don’t have but always wanted
Play guitar.
I arrived in town yesterday around 4:30ish, and my mom was here with her friend Steve. He lives in Lansing, MI but was home for some family stuff (and perhaps his birthday). They were going out around 6 but I sat and talked with the two of them for awhile. They left, and it was awhile before my dad got home (he had a late meeting at work and didn’t get home until 8pm). I grabbed some pizza from Mario’s for dinner, which I remember being really good, but they must have changed owners because it was pretty assey. Dad got home, and we chatted for awhile, then Chuck came over. At some point Soul Calibur II was brought out and Chuck and I threw down. I handicapped myself for awhile so he had a fighting chance to get “in to shape” in the game. He is pretty much up to speed now, but it will probably take a few more rounds of play before I would say he was “on par” with me.
(Cassie is freaking out right now, due to the thunder, and is now curled up underneath the computer desk. :)
Today I slept in pretty seriously, until around 1pm. Chuck and I grabbed some lunch, hunted around for a place to serve us some Taylor Ham & Cheese, but all of our usual haunts were shutting us out. We finally ended up at the Victoria diner where we ran into James and his keyboardist. Grabbed some food, and on the way back I stopped by the auto parts store to get some brake pads for Maude. I hate working on the car, but changing brake pads is about the extent of the amount of work I am willing to do, and I am broke, so I figured it was worth saving the money. And it’s not a job I could do in Boston thanks to the lack of garage, so I figured I would take the opportunity while it was in front of me. The pads only cost me \$15, so I saved a ton (as any garage/brake place would have gouged me like crazy, and probably told me I needed new rotors). Chuck was a big help in that endeavor, reminding me of all the stuff I had forgotten after not working on a car for several years.
I took Chuck to dinner to thank him for his help, he wanted to go to Ruby Tuesdays… We both thought it was pretty lackluster, so I doubt we will be returning. Afterwards we headed over to his yuppie slave drivers’ house to play Soul Calibur II on the 50" television there.
