On the bus this morning, this couple got on the bus next to me. The man was this bad-ass looking guy, talking about the Super Bowl and Boxing.. He was being loud, he had a bad-ass looking tattoo on his neck, and he generally seemed like the kind of guy you wouldn’t want to mess with. His white-trash spandex crack-whore woman was annoying as hell.
Anyway, halfway through the ride, this guy busts out one of those little juice boxes, slams in the micro-straw into it and starts sipping on it. I mean, really, how can you project a bad-ass image drinking a Ssips? He might as well have really pussied out and gone for a Capri Sun.
Man, I have written a ton tonight… Recently I decided to give Twin Peaks a second chance… Probably inspired by the release of the first season on DVD. Anyway, I TiVoed Fire Walk With Me and watched that, and I rented the first 4 episodes… I just finished the first episode, and I think my opinion of the series has changed… I am a big fan of David Lynch, but this series left a dank taste in my mouth after viewing it, something that hadn’t been washed away until the release of Mulholland Drive. But watching it now, many years after the last time I watched the show, I find it more palatable… Until I finish some more shows I won’t form an opinion, but the reaction I had all those years ago to the series seems to have diminished… I wonder if I see something new now, or if it is simply all the changes in my personality since then… Ah well… I am going to watch the second episode and then go to bed…
If I said “My Tax Return is looking good”, it would really be an understatement… I believe that I withheld a BIT too much, but I really don’t mind. :)
The robotics competition was a blast! There were some really clever designs, and it was nice to see them in person for a change as opposed to some WGBH PBS show… :)
Gonna head over to the Autonomous Robot Design Competition (a.k.a. 6.270, the courses section number) tonight at MIT. Should be a ton of fun, if my camera arrives today I will try to take lots of pictures…
I have decided to use XML Schema to define the various documents that will be used in MM27. Ever since my first REAL experience with XML on the DCS team, I have always grudgingly used DTDs to define document structure, because at the time, Schema was still in much flux. Although Schemas becamea W3C Recommendation in May, I hadn’t thought to look back at them until this new development cycle began. Reading briefs on the standard, the two ways of defining documents are obviously similar, but the major advantage of Schema is that it is itself an XML implementation, which just seems to make more sense to me.
We don’t have any need to ever validate documents, so these Schemas are solely for our own documentation purposes. I can’t vouch, nor have I really looked into whether or not the support is there in parsers and validators..
My wrist has been bothering me the past few days… It is a sprain-type pain, and I had the same malady a few months ago… Hopefully it will go away again, I somehow think it is related to bad sleeping positions somehow…
This seems to be as close to the real thing as you can get these days…. Definately give it a chance if you enjoyed the old DOS game…. It’s Java based so it should run anywhere with a JVM.
