Sean and Kelly should hopefully be here any minute, I woke up extraordinarily early this morning so I walked over to the hippie mart and got the supplies necessary for a barbecue in celebration of their arrival. I got 5 pork tenderloins and they are currently getting flavored up with the magic red rub in place… I also got some burgers and dogs in case there are any people who don’t eat pork, and Frances is bringing the veggie food…
So I headed out to Adam’s parents house yesterday for a bit of a soiree (I’m on vacation, I don’t need accent marks). His dad and stepmom have a pool, so we swam and grilled and chilled… It was fun.. Today I met Jon Whitney for lunch and picked up Real Genius on DVD and a few CDs.
Today I am extracting episodes of Good Eats that have been collecting on my Tivo for awhile and processing them for my Good Eats archive..
Have not updated much lately, mostly because I am enjoying my “vacation”. Last night Matt and I made some fantastic chicken on the grill. We made a Red Rub and “Mutha’s Sauce” from the Dinosaur Barbecue Cookbook, and let me tell you, that was the best damn barbecue chicken I have had in my life (Including the barbecue chicken I have had AT the Dinosaur). The recipe for the rub yielded a large pizza shaker’s (plus a small tupperware container) worth of rub, and the BBQ sauce recipe yielded 7 cups of sauce… Tonight we made steak using the rub and sauce on the grill and it was fantastic. My plan of cooking on the grill every night of this vacation is panning out well so far. =)
After taking a post-world-cup nap this morning, Matt and I headed out to get some Jamba Juice, and while we were there stopped by Kitchen’s Etc., where I bought a Digital Kitchen Scale and Matt got a Canning Kettle (he is following my footsteps and making fresh jam tonight!). We also stopped by Toys R Us where Matt was tempted by the Radio Control Rock Climber (yes, you read that correctly).
After some kitchen cleanup I will probably end up playing some Neverwinter Nights tonight.
Woke up at zero-dark-thirty to go with Omar for the World Cup Final fiesta over at Carlos’ house.. It was a great game, and coming home many people were cheering the fact that Brasil won the tournament. Even as I write this horns are still honking….
You know, I initially rejected Portishead, but in the past year or two I have really grown to appreciate their music… I don’t find myself being so off-base about music (by that I mean that I don’t find myself rediscovering music I didn’t like at first).
My boss approved my vacation days for next week, so after tomorrow I will be on a 9 day vacation of nothing… I was contemplating going back to NJ, but I think I just need some relaxation time that doesn’t involve hectic travel. I can’t imagine that this week will be a good travel week, so I think I will just take a pass, much to the chagrin of my family. =)
I played Neverwinter Nights from 8pm until 2am last night, and I think I am starting to get into the game… As some of you know, this is the first RPG I have given the time of day to in over 10 years, so I am kinda surprised that it has held my attention for as long as it has… I am sure that some of that is due to the huge need for diversion in my life right now… =)
I took this picture from the bus last time I left for Jersey, but it has humored me almost my entire time in Boston. The building is down near South Station in Chinatown (Boston), and the best part is that they have two of the same signs (you can make out the other on the left hand side of the image).
After my scrambling… After my long nights…. After getting caught up to a project that was monumentally not supposed to be possible given the amount of time… After tons of self-doubt and worry…. Finally saying you are done with a project is a good feeling….
AND THEN YOU ARE TOLD THAT THE RELEASE IS GOING TO BE DELAYED SO WE CAN ADD MORE FEATURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My company rules, but this project is like sand in my urethra. I hope they realize that I am taking off M, T, W next week whether they like it or not…
