And I didn’t get arrested, because my dad’s the mayor
BITCHIN’ CAMARO, BITCHIN’ CAMARO
The trip home was lots of fun… I listened to the audiobook of Neuromancer as read by the author. I had to find mp3’s of the book “out there” because the edition read by the author isn’t available anymore. I figure I have purchased the book enough times to assuage any guilt about stealing the audiobook. William Gibson sounds a bit like John Waters, but with a far more “dorky” vibe. Adam and Matt were surprised how nerdy Gibson sounded, but come on, he wrote Neuromancer! Anyway, having read the book a bundle of times, it was a nice change to hear the audiobook, and it has got me charged to read the rest of the series. I lost (more likely, someone borrowed and never returned) my copy of Count Zero, so I picked up another copy of it at the MIT Co-op.
Anyway, the drive home was rather uneventful (besides some unexplicable traffic in the middle of nowhere of CT well after rush hour). Mom was ultra-surprised to see me and it was good to see everyone back home. Found out that Chuck moved out of the house, he still hasn’t found a permanent place to live, but I guess he felt like he had started to really impose on my parents and found a different temporary arrangement. Talked alot to my mom about stuff, showed my dad Trekkies, went for a boat ride, saw the “crew”… Lots of fun, not enough time!
Return trip was also uneventful, watched The Sopranos with Matt when I got home, caught up on the stuff that was neglected in my absence, etc.
Moonbase Commander is a great game that combines turn-based strategy with Scorched Earth style ammo lobbing.. It supports 4 player games over the local network and the internet… I highly recommend picking it up, especially since it is part of the new “cheap game renaissance” at \$20…
Ok, so i’m easily amused…
I am sooooooooooo bored…. My work activity today has consisted entirely of creating an “final” build installer.. That took 4 minutes
I went to the dentist for my last appointment for a few months (other than the upcoming dental surgery) to get my last cavity filled… That was a breeze, I walk back to work, get a sandwich on the way, finish lunch, and then the temporary crown (on the tooth which needs surgery) falls off… I guess I will have to head back over there to get it reattached…
The Wire show tonight was fantastic… I’m glad I forced myself to go because it was tons of fun.. Of course, another night in a smokey club probably didn’t do any favors for my throat.. :) For the first time I have been to a show downstairs at the Middle East the vocal mix didn’t suck… It was amazing… I grabbed a slurpee on the walk home (it is so nice to live so close to great live music) and am going to jump in the shower before I hit the sack (which is something I reccommend after any show or club night, you sleep so much better).
Going to meet Jon and Jessica in Alewife after work tomorrow to take advantage of their big sale.. Hopefully I can find some steals there..
When I am home, whether working from home or home sick, I always have CourtTV on in the background (I think I am addicted). Anyway, today they are covering the case of this girl who is suing her High School (proxy her mother) for the right to form an “Anarchy Club”, which the High School denied her.
Anarchy Club… Right.. Does that sound a BIT oxymoronic to you? These kids today…
I stayed home sick today because my throat really hurt when I woke up… I mailed work and told them I was staying home, and then went back to bed… I woke up at noon (or, really, rory woke me up accidentally) and went to lunch… My throat is feeling much better now, betcha it was the smoke in the club last night…
Supposed to go out for dinner with Stacey and Adam tonight, not sure where we are going yet though… I am still not sure if I am going to the Wire show tonight…
