Corinna arrived in town for a visit thursday night… She got in late, and we pretty much hit the sack when we got back from Hoboken. Friday we watched some Sopranos (season 4) and hung out with Johnny, Calmie, and Chuck at Chuck’s place.. We played scattergories, which is a pretty fun game. As I started to sleep Friday I started feeling worse and worse, and around 6am I was in the bathroom… This continued full throttle for awhile, and backed off to an hourly event. Puking was on the menu as well… Wouldn’t you know it, Corinna was getting sick the same way towards the end of Saturday. She was originally going to return to boston today, but she has postponed it until tomorrow….
I made some awesome chicken on the grill tonight… Chicken breasts marinated in White Wine Worcestshire, simple but oh so delicious. I also got some kosher salt and parchment paper for the house here, I felt naked without them. The parchement paper inspired me to bake some cookies, so I employed my usual modified version of Good Eats’ “The Chewy” recipe. My modification is that I replace half the butter with shortening, and I melt the butter but leave the shortening room temp. I miss my KitchenAid, I think I am going to have to reclaim it from the boys in Boston oncethe kitchen is renovated. (Assuming I am still living here then)
I have been meaning to mention this for awhile now… I have had a long standing grudge against Apple’s “Quartz Extreme” technology (which uses the 3D accelerator on the video card to aid in window drawing), mostly viewing it as a crutch for an otherwise ill performing UI. While this may still be true, Exposé finally justifies the Quartz Extreme technology. Finally there is something that OSX provides through Quartz Extreme that wouldn’t be possible (or at least extremely inefficient) otherwise.
Mmmm…. Dad employed the Rotisserie on the grill to make some tasty chicken tonight. Earlier today we liberated the lawn from its oppressive cover of leaves. Between the industrial strength leaf blower and the smaller handheld model we have it was finished rather quickly. Much faster than when I was a kid using a rake.
There was supposed to be some Monopoly tonight but Jenn and Martin had some homework they procrastinated on all weekend and they needed some time to catch up. Not too much of a problem, to tell you the truth, because I am feeling a bit sleepy today.
My Salon subscription is about to expire in a week and I don’t have the money to renew it…. :(
If I didn’t have enough reason to avoid Belkin products before, now I am boycotting them.
