Greetings from San Jose
Flying sucks, but I am all safe in sound chilling in Chris’ apt. Aironet is neat.
I like my soap.

Ok, so tomorrow I leave for California… I will spend a few days with Chris, then I will take on the long-awaited job interview on Tuesday… I am headed to Newark at 6:30am, so I will not get another chance to update until I am at Chris'.
Leftover turkey, Junkyard Wars, nothing else to do….. How could life get better?
Happy Native-American Exploitation Day, everyone!
I got most of my grades today, I got an ‘A’ in Operating Systems II, Data Communications and Networks I, and Stellar Astronomy Lab. I got a ‘C’ in Probability and Statistics I (which is A-OK with me.. :P).
If only my Stellar Astronomy Lecture professor wasn’t such an idiot, I would know my fate… :P
Ok, well, I sure am glad that me pappy got a cable modem, because I am currently downloading the 127MB demo for Quake III Team Arena which was released a few minutes ago. The transfer is screaming now (I’m already past 75%), so I should be able to play any minute now… :)
Anyone know why I couldn’t get to the entire CSH subnet for a few hours tonight? I was able to get to Grace, but I couldn’t get to any machine on floor (including my own). I was thinking it was some kind of power-outage in the building but my uptime disagrees. Was there some kind of planned RIT maintenance I missed out on?
I almost bought a new pair of boots at Cafe Soundz last night, but I decided that my current fiscal situation couldn’t retire \$50.
Chuck and I went to T.G.I. Friday’s for lunch earlier, and afterwards we stopped by CD Express, a used CD shop I used to frequent when I spent more time in NJ. Man, I haven’t been there in a long time, and they definately began to suck at some point during that time…. They only had a single CD I would even think about buying, and I just said forget it… :)
Might be hanging out with James later tonight, possibly heading down to Cafe Soundz in Montclair… The new Download album was released today, and some of the previews I have heard reminded me of their album Furnace, which has been their best (and their first :P)… Hopefully I won’t be let down… :)
Ok, I like Robin Williams, but that movie blows. My sister, Larissa, and my Mom are currently watching it. Fortunately, life in the dorms have built up my ability to ignore irritations, so…
This break has been great so far… I haven’t done much of anything… Last night I stayed up until about 2:30am hacking on Drink and talking to Chris which was cool. I woke up at 2pm this afternoon (I almost hit 12 hours)… I guess I am catching on all the lost sleep I accrued this past quarter. I found out that I got an ‘A’ in my Operating Systems II course, which is exciting, because our whole team worked our tails off all quarter.
Chuck came over today and we just chilled, and ended up going for a little ride to the Rockaway Mall and Barnes and Noble… Ran into a girl from High School who I hadn’t seen in a few moons…
Bill Kuker hooked me up with his API for the drink hardware today, so I might work on finalizing that work up today. Most of the server is done, but I have simple stubs in the places where I needed to interact with the hardware.
Yeah, being home is fun…. I have been chilling with the family, which is cool. My youngest sister Aimee doesn’t return from school until Tuesday, but Larissa is home…. Everyone has a decent amount of time off this weekend, so…
I hacked more on the new server for drink today…. I had some ideas in the car (some inspired by Jon) that I implemented earlier today. Originally my code had it’s own authentication database, but now I authenticate against the house’s db. Only the account balances are kept in the server’s own db now, and once the RTP’s get LDAP kicking on the house’s machines, I can get rid of that too.
