Ok, so Verizon fixed my phone this morning, apparently I had a bad jack in my apartment that was shorting the line in one way or another…. The guy showed up as I was watching the super-electro-future-scooter on the TiVo… Seeing it in action, it looks pretty freaking amazing…. Whatever deep gyroscope physics magic they invoke to get that thing to balance perfectly, even when the rider is shoved is amazing… Fortunately for me, they aren’t for sale to the general public yet… :)
I successfully made Toffee Butter Bars tonight, so I feel comfortable in my kitchen again. :) I checked out that comedy troupe, Slow Children at Play, with tonight, which was fun… They weren’t fantastic, but they kept me laughing… I am tired, but I probably won’t be able to sleep…. But it is time to try, or else my sleep schedule will be inverted this week… :)
I went to bed at like 3am last night and woke up at 1pm…. I guess that was the “well-deserved sleep catch-up” I have been hoping for for a few weeks now. :) I am going to go get some lunch at Eagle’s and then go to the store to get a new cookie sheet to try the Toffee Butter Bars again…
Work wasn’t that complicated today… No one called us looking for hangings, so the new release can’t be that bad…
jellopixy just left a few minutes ago… It was fun talking to her, and hearing much of my suspicions about Rochester confirmed once again… I will probably meet up with her tomorrow and check out some comedy thingy at BU.
Apparently Verizon was here today. The strange thing is, I don’t have any dialtone on my phone, but my DSL magically started working. Hopefully it really is the line and not my phone… :)
Needless to say, if you need to call, try my cellphone.
Our release last night seemed to go relatively well (I mean, once you subtract the usual “SOMETHING’S GONE TERRIBLY AWRY” that comes with every release), and by 9pm we were drinking at Houlihan’s down the street.
My phone is still dead, and so is my DSL, but supposedly it will be fixed today..
I wish releases always occurred directly before a vacation, because I could really use some time off after the past week…
Man, I hate doing QA. Looks like our release is pretty solid, it will probably go out tonight or tomorrow (the release date was moved up from the the 3rd of December: That’s right, a software project that delivered early).
My phone line is dead at home, and I am not quite sure what is going on. Verizon said they have tone to the demarc, so I will have to do some homework tonight… This means no DSL, so this situation will have to be rectified quickly. I think we might be going out after work though to celebrate the release… I might not be in the “frame of mind” to do debugging of phone lines tonight… Perhaps I should get a wire monkey to come and take a look at it. *ducks for cover*
