Your circuits dead, there's something wrong
I am really beginning to appreciate XPCOM’s merits… Using a component architecture has been a real godsend in our project…. That is all.

Finally, the annoying design meetings have all but subsided and I am writing code…. And finally, I am getting into the kick-ass groove I was in when Adam and I were doing the big move to XUL. This time, however, I am doing more work with straight XML and DOM parsers, etc. Our new protocol is going to rule… We are ditching our proprietary transport in favor of http over ssl, which will require much less work for us in the long run… We will now only have to maintain (much to the chagrin of ) our own Application layer protocol as opposed to Application, Session, and Transport layers… :)
Things are looking good with the apartment, I should know today or tomorrow… The landlord has now talked to all 4 of us, and apparently wasn’t displeased by what he heard… He said he just wanted to talk to 2 more landlords before he was certain that “we were the ones”..
My name is Humpty, prounounced with an Umpty.
I can’t even believe this…. Leave it to PA…
Met with the realtor and landlord this morning, gave them the check for 2 months rent, and we are signing leases tonight. The landlord seems like a really cool guy, although he did come off just a BIT snobby, but not bad or anything… Definately not a slumlord of any kind. :)
Anyway, we found out today that the townhouse we originally looked at was going for a bit more money than we were told, because it was streetfacing and apparently those go for more… But he was willing to come down to our price for the other two units in the building. We looked at the one that was “most finished” today (they are all being constructed still, but now they are doing things like railings and doors, so they are almost done). It is a hair smaller (1820ish vs. 1920ish sq. ft), but I think the layout is actually a bit better. I didn’t get any pictures of it, but I do have pictures of the more expensive unit. Apparently our credit reports and combined income are more than sufficient, and the landlord seemed to like Adam and I, but he wanted to talk with Rory and Matt too. The realtor seems to think that there won’t be any problem, but I am still keeping a pessimistic view… I would rather be surprised vs. disappointed after the nightmare I had last time I was looking for places.
Here is the webpage for the actual complex… If you look closely, you can see a button for “Take a Virtual Tour”… This only apparently works in IE, and the pictures in it are also of the more expensive unit, but it gives you a good idea of how classy the place is. :)
I figure I can let my friends know this much since things look good and the apartment is now delisted… You can continue to keep your fingers crossed… :)
So I was chilling with Rory (in our new apartment, of course). I was listening to CDs, and he was reading a paper on some complex Biotech thing that I don’t understand (like he always is). I have no concept of what the music I was listening to sounded like, but it was loud.
This one song came on, and Rory listened to it for a little while, and turned to me and said “This is a cover of a song from Starcraft!”. It was instrumental (the song we were listening to, not the “original starcraft version”), but he began singing the lyrics to it: “In the town of Shreveport” (Approximately to the tune of Conan O’Brian’s “In the Year 2000”).
Once again, I have no clue where that came from. :)
We found the god-damned DREAM apartment tonight…. It is ridiculous… We applied for it, and are dropping deposits off tomorrow… Hopefully we can get it…
Call me paranoid, but I am going to hold off posting the details and pictures until after we have a green light from the landlord… I don’t want to jinx myself… But if you wanted to keep your fingers crossed for me, that would be super-duper. :)
I just feel kinda run down today, and I am not quite sure why…. Oh well, I am sure that seeing some apartments tonight will get me moving.
I took too long to shave and shower, so I missed the 9:15 bus…. Which means that I have to wait around for the 9:45 bus… Now, I have been taking the 9:45 for a while now, but this week I have been trying to get in a bit earlier… So much for that…. But at least I get some time to sit around and goof off now. :)
Adam, Rory, and I are going to head to a realtor at 6pm tomorrow to look at a few places… The one we originally called for was a 5 bedroom in Somerville…. Hopefully it will not suck, since the rent sounds good for a 5 bedroom..
I was just thinking about Jay Pacheco, and how he did not use contractions… That’s funny…
