Where Girls Grow Strong

I talked Andres today, who was the CEO until February when he stepped down and became CSO (Strategy Officer)… Anyway, he wanted to tell me that it looks like I definately won’t be going along for the ride, and that details will be solid by the end of the week… So it sounds like this is my last week at Rovia, as expected…
Matt and I made some Corn & Potato Chowder from the DinoBBQ cookbook which was awesome… I’m glad Matt got excited about the recipe because I would have avoided it (thinking it was some kind of clam-based nastiness). We also had some homemade poundcake, topped with homemade lemon curd, topped with strawberries, topped with homemade whipped cream…. Both were taste sensations.
Yesterday was the last day of my Sprint PCS service (finally!)… They wouldn’t terminate my service on the day I requested, instead saying I needed to wait until the end of the billing cycle. So I kept the phone around and checked the messages a few times since I got the Hiptop. Nobody left a message since I moved to the new phone, which I guess means that I did a decent job of promoting the new number. I found a page “out there” that gave the programming codes for the StarTAC and I blew away the phone book and settings… I am boxing it up and sending it to Call to Protect, which gives emergency mobile phones to victims of domestic violence. It seems like a good way to get rid of the phone..
Once again, leave it to the US Patent Office to award a completely asinine patent.. Anyone who has received email sent by me from my Hiptop might have noticed that the from “Personal Name” is “Sean Graham (wireless)”… The parenthetical is automatically appended by Danger’s servers when the user changes their from address to something than the supplied default. Lots of people in various Hiptop forums are up in arms about this, but it doesn’t bother me that much (It’s kinda cool that the recipient knows that I am mr. techno geek wireless boy). Anyway, I found out that the reason that Danger has it set up this way is thanks to a patent granted to one of Danger’s competitors, RIM (who make the Blackberry). With a title like “System and method for pushing information from a host system to a mobile data communication device having a shared electronic address”, it deserves a read… It’s a hoot.
I haven’t listened to this album in awhile… For some reason I remembered it not being that good, but I think I was wrong… This song rules…
There are two things in this world that will ALWAYS cheer me up when I am down: Music and Chuck… Wish Chuck could come up for a visit…
I finished watching The Sopranos with Matt and after it was over I had my usual thought “Man, I don’t want to go to work tomorrow”… After which I remembered “Wait, tomorrow is national screw the natives day”. After that I thought “Man, I should be grateful for the few days I have left at work!”, and then I almost started to cry…. I can’t believe how upset this whole work thing is making me…
My roommate, Matt Girard got to ride on a Segway this week… Bastard
They will catch the DC sniper, and try him under all the crazy new anti-terrorist laws… Sooner or later those laws will be challenged and eventually overturned, and this sniper will be freed.
Of course, I am just in a bad, pessimistic mood today, so what the fuck do I know?
My boss just took Adam and I to lunch to keep us up to date on what is going on behind our backs… Apparently two different companies are looking to pick up segments of the company, and he isn’t sure who is going to get to go along for the ride… Fortunately I have that interview next week, and now I know I can use Pedro (my boss) as a reference without worrying about his reaction. :P
