Everything’s just a little broken

You can re-release it, you can remix it, but when it comes down to it, bad music is still bad.

It seems that the Sprite slot on the Drink machine sticks and dumps its entire contents out from time to time. Bill and I (the software guys) believe this is a hardware (either mechanical or electronic) problem, and of course, the hardware guys think otherwise. :) The one thing we have going for us is that it is the same slot every time, and all the other slots work fine…

I am fairly certain that the changes I made to the LJ client last night work, but one person replied in the support area saying they still had problems…. I guess I will have to wait and see.

  1. One easy way to tell, wire that bit of the TINY hardware that’s now connected to sprite to another slot. If the other slot starts spewing cans, then it’s the software. ;)

Funny… I have made that very suggestion several times and it has fallen on deaf ears. Given, it must be difficult, moving FOUR wires and all. The entire point of this redesign was to make it easy to swap out failed hardware. There are only 4 connections from each controller board; 2 for 5V and 2 for 120V. And they are connected with fancy removable connectors, so it wouldn’t even require wire nuts or soldering…

If the hardware monkeys don’t do it, I will… :)

      1. heh. they just don’t want to be proven wrong. I bet that it spews drinks whenever the compressor kicks in. (we had a similar problem with the old hardware years ago.) just a hunch.

I bet like one of the relays or something is just weak, or there’s an extra cap that’s needed.

Like…. I just feel like there are tons of people around me, so I should have no reason to feel lonely… But I guess the problem is that I am having difficulty relating to those people…. There are only a few people I truly can relate to up here in Rochester, on a deeply personal level, and I think it is finally starting to grate on me…
