Yeah

I packaged up my changes to the LiveJournal client earlier today and sent them to the original author. He is going to package up a new release with my additions. I added in the ability to turn off autoformatting, which I like alot.

Cool

I just added another feature to the LiveJournal client for Be. Now, in the “Post Options” window, there is a button for the user to press to get the current songname from Soundplay. And it only took a few minutes.

Programming is fun.

Random Stuff

Well, it appears that the mood/music stuff that I hacked into the BeOS LiveJournal client seems to work. It doesn’t do anything fancy like grab the songname from SoundPlay (yet), but it does the job AFAIK.

I offered the changes back to the original author, but I haven’t heard back from him yet. Even if he doesn’t want them, I have them. :)

Midterms Complete

With the completion of my Probability & Statistics final today I am formally done with midterm exams. They all went rather well, and I was particularly surprised with the Stat one; I feel like I was about as prepared as conceivable for it, I expect to do well.

A few minutes to go until Astronomy Lab…. Boy that class drains my spinal fluid….

I actually found an hour or two today to hack on fun stuff. I was working on adding moods and music support into the BeOS LiveJournal client… I was just doing it for fun, even though the author is probably already working on this support. I would have had it all done, but I needed to rewrite all the socket stuff which stalled my progress. I was almost done with it when my time slice expired and class intervened.

I want a GPS.

GeoCaching sounds so freaking cool. Anyone got a GPS they aren’t using anymore?

I am gonna finish reading this chapter then I am ‘Quil-ing it and hitting the sack.

BTW, I tweaked my styles a bit more, so that the ‘comments’ (or talkback) stuff is always displayed at the bottom of the ‘entry cell. I did this because if someone had a short entry, their picture in the sidebar would expand the row, but the talkback links were way up by the entry, leaving all this blank space. The new way looks better….. I made all my styles public, so if you are at all interested (even to use them as a starting point), let me know…

G’Night…

friends redux

After much procrastination and many complaints, I finally made my friends page look like my journal page. The only stylistic difference you will probably notice is the width of my journal seems smaller than my friends. Well this is because of Jerry’s wide-ass cartoon from a few days ago spreading out my table…. In a day or two it will be back to normal.. :P Anyway, let me know what you think of it. I am not 100% pleased with it, but I am approaching it…

Happy Birthday Jerry!

Kick out the jams

I am in pain. I guess being a human shock-absorber for a jetski takes its toll on the human body. :)

I am writing this with the latest BeOS LiveJournal client. While it doesn’t support Mood/Music stuff yet, it is pretty rad otherwise. Looks much better than the prior client.

Stayed home from work today to crank on the presentation that we are dry-running on Friday. It’s coming along fairly well, but the trick is always to try and predict the questions people will ask… So I have been thinking alot about that. I am also fleshing out some of the design that was still up in the air… Hopefully it won’t completely be shot full of holes. :)

Bride of LiveJournal

I have slowly been integrating the data here at LiveJournal into a new homepage for me at CSH. The journal back-end will continue to be LiveJournal, but I wanted to start playing around with PHP, CSS, and maybe XML in my homepage, so…

You can check it out here, although once I am ‘finished’, it will replace my old page.

Let me know what you think of the design in the comment forum, suggestions are always welcome!
