Ave Satani

Jon Whitney introduced me to the Midwest Grill, otherwise known as the “Parade of Meat”. What a wonderful place, a simple $19 gets you a never ending cavalcade of various meat products brought to your table on swords, from which you choose what you would like and they shave off a bit for you… We tried to catch Memento at the Kendall Cinema after food, but we just missed the show.

This CD is awesome, and on top of that, it has me dying to see some of these movies again. I haven’t really been watching many horror (other than the Brattle’s recent Italian Horror Series) movies of late (probably because I saw too many of them in my youth).

It looks like I am going with friends to see Final Fantasy this evening after all. I am the odd man out, since I seem to be the only geek on the planet who isn’t all hot and bothered by this film. Perhaps it is because I never got into the video games, but I think the problem is deeper.. See, there was a ton of hype, clips, and stills released during the production of this film that made the film look very photo realistic, especially in the character animation. Unfortunately, all of the trailer material I have seen has looked firmly cartoonish.. We will see I guess, but if the animation doesn’t blow me over, I don’t expect much from a film made by a video game company.

  1. I agree – Final Fantasy looks like a snoozer. It’s certainly getting mediocre reviews, for whatever that’s worth. Doesn’t it seem bizarrely ironic that the’ve cast a virtual human as the last human on earth?

    1. If you are ever in Boston, I will take you there… Out of everyone I know, you will probably appreciate the “Parade of Meat” more than anyone.. :)

  3. we’ve one of those meat on sticks places in the mall here. we ate ostrich there! i loooooove it. service sucks though.

yes, go see memento at any cost. it was the best movie ive seen all year. FF looks pretty, we’re promoting it heavily here at work. I heard it’s got a Spiderman trailer, which will make it worth the 9 bucks.

      1. Re: hmpf

I work for Wizard Entertainment, a publisher of comic books and magazines about comics and related shit.(website

I know we’ve met before, but I dont think i’ve ever been down to your office. I’m the current CSH’er with the purple hair, and *shameless plug* this year’s chairman.

        1. are you sure we’ve met? i was only on floor probably 2 or 3 times last year, and the last time i was there i think was in december- right as i left rit. You don’t have a pic on your homepage, so i have 0 clue what you look like.

            1. ahaha

yea i remember that.. that was fall qtr, i think. I freaked the hell out of him because i knew all about the shit he did. Alex was like “what the fuck?” and got all paranoid, from what i recall. What ever happened to him, anyway?

    1. Mmmm.. Meat on Sticks.

Though it ended up being more like $35 a person by the time you get out of there.

Now I’ll have to compare the next time I’m in Boston.

  4. final fantasy

i was pretty impressed and excited about seeing final fantasy 2 years ago when i first saw the original trailers and facial “demos”. now that i’ve seen more clips of it, i don’t have a lot of desire to see it. i saw one clip where some black shit comes out of the earth or something and the whole scene, excluding the characters, looked strangely like Square’s games from 1997. Bryce 3d from 98 quality. i was completely turned off by that and the actual character movement animation which i found to be pretty sad in the later clips i’ve seen.
