Uh oh

I had put off my New York State Taxes until today, and it turns out I am going to have to PAY!

I wonder where I am going to scrounge up the money to pay, I mean, Jesus, where is a person supposed to synthesize 37 cents in today’s economy?

  1. Jeezis… .37 cents? I just wrote a check for $9,500 last night. Sounds like a lot, but if you work freelance and don’t pay taxes on most of your income, then think of that as 1/3 and you can see what you’re dealing with. It’s also an eye opener about how much you pay out when it’s taken out of a company check.

  2. Of course, it’ll cost the state of New York about $5.00 all told to process the check.

A company my mom kept the books for a few years ago ended up owing 2 cents one quarter to the IRS. Of course, if you overpay, the IRS has no problem with ‘applying’ any overpayments to the next quarter if you don’t complain, but they’d come down on you like a tonne of bricks if you owe them a cent.
